Snake Lake is located in the Meadow Valley area off of Bucks Lake Road and
boasts shady lakeside campsites for tents, RVs, OHVs and horses.  It is one of
the few campgrounds on the Mt. Hough Ranger District that allows OHV trail
access directly from the campground.

This multi-use campsite has 17 sites; 8 of them with corrals for equestrian
campers.  There are no hookups.  Horses are allowed overnight in equestrian
campsites only, and corrals are also available.

Activities include fishing, hiking, horseback riding, OHV use and non-
motorized boating. Snake Lake is not recommended for swimming.

Meadow Camp Campground

Spanish Creek Campground is located on Highway 70 just east of the Highway 89
intersection; just east of where Banish Creek and Indian Creek merge together
to create the east branch of the North Fork Feather River. The campground is
right on Spanish Creek with a very popular swimming hole. Although the
campground has been recently upgraded, it still holds the charm that it did in
years past.

Anglers enjoy a healthy supply of rainbow trout in the nearby Feather River,
which is within walking distance from the campground. The river and nearby
Spanish Creek are also popular for swimming and wading activities.

off the main road in the northern Sierra Nevada Mountains. At an elevation of
2,300 feet, it offers a cool getaway from the summer heat, as well as a
variety of outdoor activities  
  
The route on the nearby Feather River National Scenic Byway traverses a
steeply carved river gorge that encapsulates the historic railroad system from
Oroville to Quincy and impressive powerhouses built to provide
hydroelectricity.

## Recreation

Fly fishing for trout and swimming are popular activities in the nearby north
fork of the Feather River.

## Facilities

Hallsted is within walking distance of the Feather River. The campground
offers multiple single-family sites, accommodating both tent and trailer
camping. Tables and campfire rings with grills are provided, as well as flush

Recently renovated, most of Hallsted’s campground spurs have been widened and
lengthened as well as multiple sites now have power. The shower and bathroom
facilities are all new. In addition, a nice walking path meanders through the

perfect atmosphere for mountain camping. Several sites parallel the north fork

Deanes Valley Family Cg (CA) Plumas Nf

Deanes Valley Campground is located approximately 7 miles southwest of Quincy
along the 24N28 Road in the Meadow Valley area. It is one of the few
campgrounds on the Mt. Hough Ranger District that allows OHV trail access
directly from the campground.

There is a vault toilet, but no piped water.

There are a total of 7 campsites that operate on a "first come-first serve"
basis.  Several sites are along the creek. The campground accommodates both
tents and small trailers.

and isolated to provide for an optimal quiet experience to enhance the camping
experience. Easy access to hiking trails, high alpine lakes and OHV riding is
just a short distance from the campground.

## Recreation

High alpine lakes, granite boulders and blue bird skies are treats for those
who camp here. Access to hiking is located along the eastern side of Silver
Lake. Continue up and on to Bucks Summit on the PCT or climb the prominent
Spanish Peak where the ole look out once stood.

OHV routes also leave from the campground area but were severely impacted by
the Dixie Fire in 2021 and have not been maintained so be aware of hazard
trees and other debris that might slow down your route.

Whitehorse campground is located within three miles of Bucks Lake in the
northern Sierra Mountains on the Plumas National Forest. The Bucks Lake area
offers year-round recreation activities including fishing, hiking,
snowmobiling, skiing,snowshoeing and horseback riding.

Staying at the Whitehorse campground provides access to several activites
located in the greater Bucks Lake area. Fishing, boating, and canoeing, as
well as hiking are all activities that can be achieved by staying in this
campground. There are walking trails to the lake. A hiking trail runs from the
campground and provides access to the Bucks Lake Wilderness and the Pacific
Crest Trail. Marinas and boat docks are also within a short drive as well as
restaurants at the Lakeside Resort and Bucks Lake Lodge which will re-open
under new management in the summer for 2025, weather permitting. Limited
supplies and a deli are located at the Haskins Valley Store just a short drive
away.

Whitehorse Campground

A quiet and peaceful lake setting that allows kayaking and non-motorized
boats; swimming is prohibited.  It is located just south of the town of
Greenville, Round Valley Reservoir offers picnicking, day use and fishing for
blue gill.  From Quincy take Hwy 89 north towards Greenville.  Just south of
Greenville turn left onto Round Valley Rd.  The reservoir is approximately 3
miles in.

## Overview

Mill Creek campground is located at Bucks Lake in the northern Sierra
Mountains on the Plumas National Forest. The Bucks Lake area offers year-round
recreation activities including fishing, hiking, snowmobiling,
skiing,snowshoeing and horseback riding.

## Recreation

The greater Bucks Lake area provides ample recreation opportunities for
fishing, boating and hiking. The boat ramp at Shady Point provides several
activies: a boat dock to launch boats, showers, and day use picnicking. In
addition to the hiking trail that starts in the north part of the Mill Creek
Campground, several trails are only a short drive away. Bucks Summit is a
great way to access the PCT or the Bucks Summit Loop Trail.

## Facilities

There are 11 total campsites suitable for RV and tent camping, standard non-
electric sites. Each site has a fire ring, picnic table and food storage
lockers. There are vault toilets and drinking water is available.

Bucks Lake providing easy access to water activites.

Reservations are not available for this site. This campground is managed and
operated by Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E;). All campsites at this
campground are available on a first-come first-served basis. We apologize for
any inconvenience this may cause. In the Bucks Lake Area, reservations can be
made for Whitehorse and Hutchins Campgrounds on www.recreation.gov, or Haskins
Valley Campground, owned and operated by PG&E;, at

Cleghorn Bar

**Bucks Lake** is located on Oroville-Bucks Lake Road, 17 miles southwest of
Quincy or 32 miles northeast of Oroville.  Bucks Lake is a high mountain lake
surrounded by the Bucks Lake Wilderness on one side and recreation
residences/resorts on the other side.   The area offers year-round recreation
opportunities, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

Showers are available nearby at Sandy Point Day Use / Boat Launch.

Red Bridge Campground is one of two free campgrounds on the Mt. Hough Ranger
District. The campground is managed by the Forest Service. No reservations are
needed, all sites are first come - first serve. There are 5 sites and 2 vault
toilets. The sites are set up on both sides of the Middle Fork of the Feather
River, the only federally designated Wild and Scenic River on the forest.

Traveling east from Quincy on Hwy 70, turn south on La Porte Road. The
campground is 7 miles out.

4 sites and accommodates up to 25 people at each for both tent and RV camping.
Located 30 miles NE of Taylorsville, Antelope Lake is one of the more remote,
quiet lakes on the forest.

Travelers can stop in nearby communities such as Taylorsville, Greenville,
Janesville, Milford and Susanville for ice and other supplies before you
travel up the hill.   Wood is for sale within campgrounds.

Brady's Camp is one of two free campgrounds on the Mt. Hough Ranger District.
It is managed by the Forest Service. It is one of the few campgrounds on the
Mt. Hough Ranger District that allows OHV trail access directly from the
campground.

There are 6 campsites, which are first-come, first-serve with no reservations.
It is located north of Hwy 70 and east of Quincy. Take Squirrel Creek Road
turnoff (County Road 401), go 8 miles towards Argentine Lookout.  This uphill
gravel road is not recommended for RVs or trailers.

This campground is popular during deer hunting season.

This campground is at approximately 7400 feet in elevation so snow lingers
late in the spring and it can close early in the fall due to weather.
