## Overview

Large landscape views of trees and valleys can be seen along the six mile
drive to Silver Lake. Sitting at just over 6,000 ft in elevation, the Silver
lake campground set up for solitude and tranquility. The sites are spread out
and isolated to provide for an optimal quiet experience to enhance the camping
experience. Easy access to hiking trails, high alpine lakes and OHV riding is
just a short distance from the campground.

## Recreation

High alpine lakes, granite boulders and blue bird skies are treats for those
who camp here. Access to hiking is located along the eastern side of Silver
Lake. Continue up and on to Bucks Summit on the PCT or climb the prominent
Spanish Peak where the ole look out once stood.

OHV routes also leave from the campground area but were severely impacted by
the Dixie Fire in 2021 and have not been maintained so be aware of hazard
trees and other debris that might slow down your route.

  * No trash service is provided 
  * Vault toilets are located in two areas of the campground
  * Parking for day use and hiking is located near the lake by the vault toilets

great way to access the PCT or the Bucks Summit Loop Trail.

Staying at the Whitehorse campground provides access to several activites
located in the greater Bucks Lake area. Fishing, boating, and canoeing, as
well as hiking are all activities that can be achieved by staying in this
campground. There are walking trails to the lake. A hiking trail runs from the
campground and provides access to the Bucks Lake Wilderness and the Pacific
Crest Trail. Marinas and boat docks are also within a short drive as well as
restaurants at the Lakeside Resort and Bucks Lake Lodge which will re-open
under new management in the summer for 2025, weather permitting. Limited
supplies and a deli are located at the Haskins Valley Store just a short drive
away.

concrete picnic tables and bear proof food storage lockers in most campsites.
Vault toilets, water and trash services are on site as well.

Hallsted campground is conveniently situated in the Feather River Canyon, just
off the main road in the northern Sierra Nevada Mountains. At an elevation of
2,300 feet, it offers a cool getaway from the summer heat, as well as a
variety of outdoor activities  
  
The route on the nearby Feather River National Scenic Byway traverses a
steeply carved river gorge that encapsulates the historic railroad system from
Oroville to Quincy and impressive powerhouses built to provide
hydroelectricity.

## Recreation

Fly fishing for trout and swimming are popular activities in the nearby north
fork of the Feather River.

## Facilities

Hallsted is within walking distance of the Feather River. The campground
offers multiple single-family sites, accommodating both tent and trailer
camping. Tables and campfire rings with grills are provided, as well as flush
toilets, showers and drinking water.  
  
Recently renovated, most of Hallsted’s campground spurs have been widened and
lengthened as well as multiple sites now have power. The shower and bathroom
facilities are all new. In addition, a nice walking path meanders through the
forest and takes you down to the North Fork of the Feather River.

Mature pine and fir trees provide ample shade for the campground, as well as a
perfect atmosphere for mountain camping. Several sites parallel the north fork
of the Feather River. A variety of wildlife make its home in the area.

campground. Quincy is approximately 17 miles east, providing the nearest
source of fuel.

Hutchins Group Campground is the perfect location for groups who want to
explore the greater Bucks Lake area of the Plumas National Forest. This
campground was severely impacted by the Dixie Fire in 2021. Timber salvage
management has left the campground barren and hot so prepare by providing
adequate shade for your stay.  
  
American Land & Leisure are the concession operators working for PG&E; to
service the campgrounds, boat ramps and day use areas that are owned by the
USDA Forest Service.

## Recreation

The greater Bucks Lake area provides ample opportunities for fishing, boating,
and canoeing. The boat ramp at Shady Point provides a boat dock to launch
boats, showers, and day use picnicking. Hiking trails are only a short drive
away with trailheads located in the Mill Creek Campground, Mill Creek
Trailhead on the way to Bucks Summit, and at Bucks Summit where the PCT or
Bucks Creek Loop trail are located.

Gansner Bar Campground is located on Highway 70 just east of the Highway 89

## Overview

Snake Lake is located at approximately 3900 ft in elevation and is about 8
miles from the quaint town of Quincy, CA. Upon arriving, you are greeted by a
mixed pine and fir forest as well as the shallow, lilly pad filled Snake Lake.
Easy access to multi use trails can be found within the Snake Lake Basin.

## Recreation

This campground is a hub of activity and hosts staging areas for mountain
biking, equestrian, and OHV use. Play hard and respect everyones rights and
activies. This is one of the only campgrounds that has use access to forest
roads directly from the campground.

## Facilities

These improvements can be found at each campsite:

For the equestrian users there is a small corral and a ADA mounting ramp

  * Please use certified weed-seed-free feed for horses
  * Please remove, scatter or bury manure piles left in corrals or while dispersed camping
  * Use the provided corrals or hitching posts to stage horses; use high lines with tree saver straps to protect trees and minimize impact while dispersed camping

Snake Lake is a shallow reservoir that promotes the growth of Lilly Pads.
Swimming is not in the best interest of the user.

Upon arriving, you are greeted by a mixed pine and fir forest as well as the shallow, lilly pad filled Snake Lake. Easy access to multi use trails can be found within the Snake Lake Basin. </p>

<p>This campground is a hub of activity and hosts staging areas for mountain biking, equestrian, and OHV use. Play hard and respect everyones rights and activies. This is one of the only campgrounds that has use access to forest roads directly from the campground. </p>

Beaver Campground. The Lakeshore Trail (13.5 miles) winds around the entire
lake and is open for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. Additional
hiking trails abound in the area and include the nearby Pacific Crest Trail.

Running Deer Campground is located on the eastern shore of the Little Grass
Valley Reservoir, giving visitors ample opportunity to fish, swim, boat and
enjoy nature. It is one of eight campgrounds in the area, providing access to
a beautiful mountain lake and various hiking, mountain biking and horseback
riding trails that meander through the scenic hills and valleys.

## Recreation

The 1,615-acre lake provides ample opportunities for visitors to fish, boat,
swim and water ski. Anglers can expect a catch of a variety of trout and
kokanee salmon, among other species of fish.  
  
The Lakeshore Trail, which loops 14.5 miles around the lake, is available for
hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. The trail connects to the
Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail, which stretches from 2,650 miles from
Canada to Mexico, across three states. A variety of day hikes can be done on
portions of the trail.

## Facilities

The campground offers dozens of single-family campsites, available for tent
and RV camping. More than a handful of the sites overlook the beautiful lake,
while others are surrounded by various trees and shrubbery. A boat ramp is
available within the site.
