The camp host, Darrell “Hobie” Schmidt was outstanding. The toilets were clean, the camp host was friendly and hospitable. We were disappointed that the water was not potable, but it was well communicated, and we had everything we needed.

Always one of my absolute favorite places to come to and look forward to going a couple/a few times every year! However, what would be nice if there was more trash cleanup. I noticed empty campsites that still have trash in them and also down by the lake there’s always trash and items left that have not been cleaned up or tossed which is a little bit surprising and disappointing. Also, as far as the restrooms are concerned… It is great that there are toilets there however, cannot comprehend why there would not be at least hand sanitizer stations in there as an option to somewhat clean/wash your hands. Yes, there are water bosses by there and yes, we are encouraged to bring our own supplies but having a hand sanitizer station in each restroom, especially when handling door knobs would be very ideal.

Location is great. The facility maintenance needs help. The camp host is elderly and seems to have difficulty keeping up with the facility. We had to have a family removed from our site that had already been there a day. Then the site host made it a habit to YELL AT PEOPLE FROM THE PARKING LOT about quiet time, rather than going to individual sites quietly. I love this location but these camp hosts are making me rethink my campground choice for next year.

I read reviews saying that the camp hosts are beyond amazing. Well, I can now confirm that their reputations proceed them. For my second night I didn't have a camp spot and missed the last one, so camp hosts - Darrell and Hobie helped me find a place even though it was completely full. They of course know the area real well and had suggestions of great trails and lakes which I took them up on both times and were never disappointed. Their motto is they want everyone to be comfortable and have a good time. They are by far the best camp hosts I've ever encountered and now probably the measuring stick for every camp host after. But of course everyone is different. Silver Lake and the area is stunning to say the least, Darrell and Hobie just made my trip that more special other it being my birthday weekend.
