Overview

The campground is a single loop and is moderately to thickly wooded with a mix of oak and pine trees that provide plenty of shade during the summer (80% + cover). The understory, which consists of manzanita, blackberries, poison oak, tree fern, wild grape and a variety of native grasses and forbs provide limited privacy between campsites. When the lake level is high, the bank is moderately sloped to provide access to the water. As the lake level drops, it exposes a steep drop off to the water, especially on the side of the campground nearest Gregory Beach. There is a boat ramp nearby at Antlers. Lake activities include fishing, swimming, motorized and non-motorized boating, and watersports.
Each site has a picnic table, and a fire ring.

Recreation

Shasta Lake provides a variety of water sports, such as power boating, non-motorized boating and water skiing. A public boat ramp is provided near the campground.

Anglers can fish for trout, catfish, Chinook salmon, crappie, bluegill, white sturgeon, brown bullhead and bass.

Facilities

Each site has a picnic table, fire rings, grills, and tent pads. Sites at this campground can accommodate both tents and RVs, however there are no electric/water hookups or dump stations.

There are flush toilets at this campground but no showers are available. Drinking water is provided.

I cannot say enough great things about this place! We went for our wedding party and this spot is absolutely fantastic! There are at least ten different spots for tent camping, several spots big enough for RVs, flushing toilets & sinks in the bathroom, a large charcoal BBQ grill, a sink with running (not potable) water for washing hands by the BBQ, and plenty of shade!! It is very easy to get to off the highway and while I could hear a little traffic, it was mostly very quiet during our stay. The park ranger came through twice to take our garbage and was very nice and in & out quickly. There are NO hookups for RVs. A couple notes for consideration: There is poison oak throughout the site. It is easy to avoid, but if you have free roaming pets it is worth watching out for! We did find a dead baby rattlesnake on the last day we were there. Be aware of your surroundings!! One night in the women's bathroom, I witnessed what could only be described as a menacing gathering of wolf spiders. There were a LOT. I think our presence scared them off though because I only saw them the one night. Thankfully. During our stay, the water was high which was great! It was still quite the climb to get to our boats - rocky and a bit slippery, so I would not recommend the trek for people who are unstable in their footing. I can only imagine that as the lake level goes down during the summer, that the trail down gets even more harrowing. Overall, this place blew our expectations out of the water 🤭 We are already planning our next trip to Gregory Creek!!

We had a wonderful time here. I'm not entirely sure we were camping in the right spot, but we were very close to the water and the facilities were better than expected. I wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back again.

We enjoyed the site itself because of its location, but there were a couple of issues. The sinks were awesome at the double site except they did not drain well and were filthy when we arrived. We ran out of toilet paper and soap in both restrooms on the first day. For a site that holds 100 people and we only had 30, the toilet paper should have lasted Throughout the weekend we were there. There was also no soap in the restrooms. The steep and embankment to get down to the beach could use some maintenance as it was difficult for some of the older and younger members of the group. You do hear noise from the boats from the marina across the water and from the highway and from the dispersed CAMPING spot nearby FYI. Loved the shady spots, but disliked all the poison oak. The sites are large and some have water views. There are only 3 large garbage cans on site. Definitely bring giant garbage bags. Despite its shortcomings, we would return.
