Winding its way through the rugged hills of northwestern Pennsylvania, Tionesta Lake offers a unique setting for a diversity of outdoor recreational fun. The Seneca named this area "where the water separates the land". Tionesta offers a rich history where narrow gauge railroads dotted the surrounding countryside hauling out virgin timber from the surrounding hillsides. Fishermen have found Tionesta to be enticing and productive. Another unique feature are the 48 lakeshore campsites that offer fishermen and families interested in camping along the lake the opportunity to do so.

The campground was difficult to find due to poor signage and google map miss direction. A sign indicating camping is at the bottom of the hill is needed at the dam sign 2/3 of the way down the hill. Tree branches cover the existing campground sign along the road. Please correct these issues. By the time we found a campground (overflow) and were directed to the main grounds, it was deep dusk and difficult to park.

My wife and I have been camping here for literally over 50 years as we camped here during our first year of marriage. A lot of things have changed and the vast majority of them for the good. The campground is looking great since they trimmed all the brush out. All the camp hosts do a wonderful job, and the rangers and camp maintenance workers are top notch and come quickly to fix any problem you have.

This is a nice, well-maintained campground with full hook-ups. The check-in time of 2pm is nice, but the check-out time at noon is a little early. The campground has paved roads which make for nice bicycling and walking. Fishing can be done at the spillway.
Popularity: Quiet

Busiest in August, when about 22% of guest capacity is reserved. Based on 11 years of reservations.
