The Route 66 Historic Back Country Byway begins five miles south of Kingman at
the McConnico exit (exit 44) off Interstate 40. To begin at the southern end,
exit off Interstate 40 at the Topock/Golden Shores exit (exit 1). Switchbacks
access Oatman and the mining community of Goldroad.
Stay Limit
Areas surrounding the Route 66 Historic Back Country Byway are open to dispersed camping or designated campgrounds in the Kingman Field Office are limited to a 14-day stay limit. Prior to your visit, check to make sure you know where public lands exist as there are areas of private and state lands along the 42-mile segment.
