Freezeout Trailhead is one of the early season routes into the Hells Canyon
Recreation Area and Hells Canyon Wilderness due to the low elevation of the
saddle. This moderate sized trailhead accommodates trucks with stock trailers
and has a stock loading ramp, hitch rails, and stock water.

Freezeout Trailhead

Saddle Creek Campground is a smaller site located on the rim of Hells Canyon
along the Hat Point Road. With 7 walk-in tent-only sites, visitors can enjoy a
remote campout or just picnic and look across Hells Canyon at the Seven Devils
Mountains in Idaho. The area was heavily burned with wildfires in the past so
shade and mature trees are scarce near the campground.

Saddle Creek Campground is a smaller site located on the rim of Hells Canyon along the Hat Point Road. Hells Canyon Wilderness area. This site provides access to Temperance Creek
trail #1778 which enters Hells Canyon Wilderness. The trailhead is also the

Recreation Trail.

This remote site is popular with Summer hikers, OHV riders, and in the late
Summer and Fall with big game hunters.

The PO Saddle Trailhead provides access to the Summit Ridge - Western Rim

Wilderness. The facility is a combination trailhead and horse camp with sites
for tents or pull-through truck and trailer camping. A spectacular view of the
canyon is found across the road.

Canyon Wilderness. The site is set in a cool fir and spruce forest and has 10
tent-only campsite sites. A short walk from the campground is Seven Devils
Lake which offers fishing, photography and a chance to view scenery and
wildflowers.

the Buck Creek National Recreation Area (NRA) Trailhead is a combination horse
campground and trailhead for back country.  The site has limited stock
facilities such as hitching rails, trailer parking, feed bunks and holding
corrals.

This trailhead provides access to Reservoir Bench Trail #1884 which enters
Hells Canyon Wilderness.

north of the Hells Canyon Wilderness area. This rustic facility allows hikers
and rider a place to begin their visit or to pick up others coming out of the
wilderness. Taking a short hike towards the canyon presents a fantastic view
of Hells Canyon.

sites. Located on the edge of Black Lake and adjacent to the Hells Canyon
Wilderness, the site is popular for visitors wanting a truly 'off-the-beaten-
path' recreational experience. The access road to the campground is steep and
rough, and is not recommended for RVs, trailers or low clearance vehicles.

This site provides access to Black Lake- Horse Heaven Trail #214 and Six Lakes
Basin Trail #218 which enter the Hells Canyon Wilderness from the southeast.

the Wild and Scenic Imnaha River. As a favorite weekend 'get away' or summer
destination site, the area remains popular for those wanting to fish, pick
berries, take day hikes, or explore along the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway. The
campground has accessible campsites, a well for drinking water and vault
toilets.
