Big Bend Group Campground is located 19 miles west of Truckee, California in
the Tahoe National Forest at an elevation of 5,700 feet. Visitors enjoy the
area for its fishing and hiking opportunities, as well as its historic

the Fordyce Jeep Trail is nearby.  There are an additional 10 campsites at the

Jackson Creek Campground

protect natural resources, the following acts are prohibited within the
Truckee and Sierraville Ranger  
Districts of the Tahoe National Forest. This Order is effective from July 1,
2025, through June 30, 2028.

Order:  
1\. Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of

2\. Any Federal, State, or local officer or member of an organized rescue or
firefighting force in  
the performance of an official duty.

## Overview

Little Lasier Meadows Campground is a horse camp near scenic Jackson Meadow
Reservoir, approximately 32 miles north of Truckee, in the Tahoe National
Forest. The location provides a great base camp for a wide range of
recreational activities, including boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding
and hunting. The Pacific Crest Trail passes just half a mile away from the
campground. This facility is operated and maintained by the Tahoe National
Forest.

## Recreation

Jackson Meadow Reservoir offers excellent opportunities for boating, canoeing,
water skiing, swimming and fishing. Anglers will find rainbow and brown trout.
A boat ramp is located at Pass Creek Campground. A designated swim beach is

Bowman Lake Campground is a very remote campground with limited services.
There are 7 campsites with tables, fire rings and bear proof food lockers.
There is no trash service.

Bowman Lake is a large lake surrounded by rocky cliffs and scattered pines
that are great for fishing and swimming. A few islands are found within the
lake.

Car top boat launch only.

The road to access the campground is very rough, rocky, and narrow. **A high
clearance vehicle is needed, and towing boats or trailers is very difficult
and dangerous.** There are several stretches of the road where it is
impossible for two vehicles to pass around each other and so if traffic is
coming from both directions, someone will need to back up.

Despite the difficult access, Bowman Lake is a popular, heavily used area.
