These six remote camping sites offer isolated scenic locations ideal for tent
and car camping or a relaxing picnic far from the crowds. Some have great
views of San Jacinto Mountain and the San Gorgonio Pass area.  
  
These sites are first-come, first-served and are generally open in the late
spring, summer, and fall months. During winter, Black Mountain Road closes due

Many of the campsites offer panoramic views of sunsets and the surrounding mountain ranges.</p><p>The San Bernardino National Forest is submitting a proposal to increase fees at various sites across the Forest, and is seeking public input.&nbsp; Please visit <a href="https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/sbnf/news-events/?cid=FSEPRD1123261">San Bernardino National Forest - News &amp; Events (usda.gov)</a> for more information and to submit comments regarding this proposal.</p><p>The popular Marion Mountain Trail is easily accessible from the campground; it leads to other portions of the local trail network including the strenuous 5.4 mile hike to San Jacinto Peak at 10,834 feet elevation.</p><p>Additional recreation opportunities include lookout towers, scenic overlooks, <abbr title="Off-Highway Vehicle">OHV</abbr> roads, rock climbing, horseback riding, mountain biking, fishing, picnic areas and a nature center.</p><p>Each campsite has a picnic table and a campfire ring with a grill. Roads and campsite parking spurs are paved. Other amenities include water faucets, trash receptacles and restrooms with vault (pit) toilets. OHV Road 6S22 is 6 miles long, runs from Tripp Flats Road to the Red Mountain
Fire Lookout. Current Vehicle registration or green/red sticker required and
operating spark arrester.

There are 10 Yellow Post sites in the Thomas Mountain area, and Toolbox Spring
area has 6 remote camping sites. They offer isolated scenic locations ideal
for tent and car camping or a relaxing picnic. Other than a metal pit for
campfires, these sites do NOT contain the amenities found at developed
campgrounds. There is no water, no restrooms nearby, and no trash containers.
Please pack it in - pack it out!

  
Campfire permits are required for any type of fire use - campfires, charcoal
BBQ's, or stoves. Campfires may not be allowed certain times of the year.  
  
These Yellow Post Sites are reached via Forest Road 6S13 (dirt). Please call
