This campground is located 24.5 miles west of Creede on Forest Road 510. It is
completely hidden from FR 510 and has 21 sites with parking spurs, tables and
a fire ring in each. 2 vault type toilets are provided and **potable drinking
water comes from a well**. This campground is only open from Memorial Day
weekend to just after Labor Day weekend.  Garbage cans are centrally located.
Firewood is not provided. A host is stationed at the campground which is
usually only about 1/3 full. It is adjacent to North Clear Creek which is
great for fishing. Some sites are in sunny openings, while some sites are
screened and shaded with small aspen/spruce/fir. This is a good general area
to observe and take pictures of the aspen colors in the fall, and maybe see a
Moose. This campground is recommended for solitude and quiet camping well away

This small single loop campground has eleven sites. Six are gravel pull
through sites and five are dead end gravel spurs. There is a beautiful
waterfall within a few hundred feet that you can hike to easily from the south
end of the campground. The campground elevation is 9,500 feet.

This campground, just off the side of Colorado State Highway 149, is well
suited for overnight stays and picnics with many level, pull-through camping
sites. The area offers fishing in South Clear Creek and Brown Lakes. A short
easy trail leads to the beauty of South Clear Creek Falls. Aspen provides
shade for some of the campground sites while spruce trees abound on the
surrounding hillsides. This is bear country and you will be required to
practice safe food storage techniques.

through travelers on the Silver Thread Scenic Byway. It is located
approximately ½ way between Creede, Colorado and Lake City Colorado. It has a

This campground contains 15 sites (11 are pull through) ranging from 35 to 55

1 to 4 parties.  It consists of 4 rough level dirt pull-outs where trailers
and tents can be set up. A single pit toilet is available across the 520 Road
from the sites.

Crooked Creek Dispersed Area

This small campground, located at the head of Road Canyon Reservoir, usually
has vacancy when other upriver campgrounds are full. The area is in a fully

trailers because the access road going down into the site is narrow and steep.
The area offers fishing access to the Rio Grande River, and is a put in - take
out point for summer rafting.  Even though the grounds sit next to State
highway 149, there is little highway noise as the campsites sits down below
the road in the river bottom. The river is very near the campground and is a
safety hazard to children if unsupervised. Be careful.  

The area has 7 camp sites with picnic tables and fireplace rings. Three sites

Situated in a meadow surrounded by willows, campers come here to fish for
trout, hunt and take in the beautiful views of the forested hills and rock
bluffs. River kayaking and fishing are also popular activities, and the Rio

Go rock climbing or horse packing in the San Juan mountains, or fish in the

This facility has 4 developed sites each with a picnic table and fireplace
ring. It underwent a major remodel in 2010. There is a vault type toilet
designed for the handicapped, but it is not wheelchair accessible. Sites 1 and
2 would accommodate small trailers or tents.  There is a foot bridge that goes
across Ivy Creek from a small parking lot  to the developed camp units 3 & 4,
which are suited only for small tent camping. Parking space tight but is
ample. No firewood, drinking water or refuse receptacles are provided. This
campground is considered to be remote and is normally not heavily used, yet it
is very attractive with  the free flowing creek, and open grassland nearby.
This area looks very different now due to the removal of dead and dying trees,
a result of the spruce beetle. The road into the campground is too narrow and
rough for large trailers and RV's. The campground is really more suitable for
tents and popup camping trailers, as there are no long developed spurs or
pull-throughs. **Scroll Down to Information Center to see the individual
campsite descriptions.  ** This is also the site of the Ivy Creek Trailhead
and Bulletin Board. All Parking for the trailhead users is outside the fenced
in campground where there is a hitching rail and room for horse trailers.  Ivy
Creek Trail #805 goes into the Wilderness and provides the quickest route to
Goose Lake. This is a trail open to foot and horse travel only. Here you will
find district maps, Weminuche Wilderness maps and information and trail
registration forms.
