Trail 427, which both go into the Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness

Located near the confluence of War Creek and the Twisp River, this forested
campground has two sections.  One section stretches along the seasonal War
Creek and has long parking aprons that are well-suited to recreational
vehicles.  The sounds of Twisp River can be heard in the distance.  There are
a few sites in a small grassy meadow.  Mature Douglas fir provide ample shade
to most campsites.  The other section is small and just off the roadway.  It
is best suited for smaller vehicles as well as tent campers.  A thick middle
and understory in both sections provide good privacy between some sites.
There are trailheads nearby. Rattlesnakes occasionally seen in the area.

This forested campground, along Early Winters Creek, is located near the
confluence of Early Winters Creek and the Methow River. There are two trails
nearby, within 4 miles of this campground: Cedar Creek Trail 476 and Driveway
Butte Trail 481.

Moore Point Campground

The Cascade Creek campground is a hike-in campground located near the
Lakeshore Trail #1247 between Prince Creek campground and Moore Point
campground. There is no boat dock at this lakeside site but it offers two tent
sites, 1 picnic table, 1 fire ring and 1 Wallowa toilet. There is not a bear

This Order is for public safety to drive on the Harts Pass Road. The portion
of the road from its intersection with the 5400060 road to it terminus at
Harts Pass, is narrow and steep, with intermittent turnouts, and receives a
considerable amount of vehicle traffic during the snow-free months. Vehicles
pulling trailers would create a hazard on this section of road because drivers
are frequently required to back up and pull into turnouts to let oncoming
traffic pass

The following persons are exempt from this order:

  1. Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
  2. Any Federal, State or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force, in the performance of an official duty.

Vehicles pulling snowmobile trailers that are hauling snowmobiles and that are 20 feet or less in length from the ball hitch / hitch point of the trailer connecting to a vehicle to the back end of such trailer. Any altered extension on such trailers will be included in total length. From the Dates of November 1 to December 1, and April 1 to June 1, of each year until such order is terminated. 

**The road is closed to all motorized wheeled vehicles from December 1 to
March 31 of each year.**

This replaces the closure shown on the Okanogan National Forest Travel Plan
map for the 5400000 Road.

Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Chelan Ranger District. This closure is
effective as of January 18, 2017, and will remain in effect until terminated.

Camping is prohibited at the following campgrounds on the Chelan Ranger
District:

  1. Lucerne Campground

**Kayaking and Canoeing Lake Chelan**

SPECIAL NOTICE: Crews from the Forest Service and the Washington Conservation Corps pull and hand-spray Crupina, a noxious weed, in this area during April. The crews camp&nbsp;at Prince Creek Campground. The campground&nbsp;will be open to the public, however&nbsp;available camping sites will be limited and the campground&nbsp;will be more crowded during this time.This boat-in campground is located on the shores of Lake Chelan and borders <a href="http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/okawen/recarea/?recid=79433">Lake Chelan-Sawtooth Wilderness. </a>The area offers a floating dock with a three boat capacity. Prince Creek offers six tent sites, five fire rings, five tables, and three toilets. A Federal Dock permit is required from May1st to October 31st for use of all
National Forest Service and National Park Service docks. Permits must be pre-
purchased before docking. Purchase a $10 Day Permit or $75 Season Pass from
one of the vendors around the Lake Chelan Valley. Click here for a list of
vendors and more information about dock permits. Campers hiking in or dropped
off by the ferry and not using the dock do not need to pay the fee.
