Holden Ballpark Campground
A road closure following substantial storm damage to several roads within the Chelan and Entiat Ranger Districts. This closure includes the Lucerne commercial dock on Lake Chelan, Forest Service Road 8301 from the junction with the Lucerne commercial dock, and FSR 5501 from the junction with the Entiat River Road.
This closure also limits access to the Holden Ballpark Campground. The Devore Creek #1244, Company Creek #1243, and Lyman Lake/Harts Pass #1256 trails are still open. However, hikers should NOT plan on accessing or exiting these trails through Holden and the Lucerne Boat Dock.
Pursuant to 16 USC § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Entiat/Chelan Ranger District of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This Order is effective January 28, 2026, through December 31, 2027, unless rescinded sooner.
PROHIBITIONS:
- Being on a National Forest System Road as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibits A and B [36 CFR § 261.54(e)].
- Use of vehicle off of National Forest System Roads as described below and displayed on the attached map, Exhibits A and B [36 CFR § 261.56].
CLOSURE AREA DESCRIPTION:
The Weather Emergency Closure is defined as follows:
The closure on Forest System Road 8301 starts at and includes Lucerne commercial dock and continues up the road to its terminus. Forest System Road 5501 starts at the junction with Entiat River Road and continues up to the end of the road. See Exhibits A and B.
The following campgrounds, roads and trails are included in this closure order:
Roads Closed
Lucerne commercial dock.
- FSR 8301, from the junction with Lucerne commercial dock.
- FSR 5501, from the junction with Entiat River Road

EXEMPTIONS:
Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
- Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire-fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
- Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation Order), specifically exempting them from this Order.
These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.
Violations of these prohibitions are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for an individual or $10,000.00 for a corporation, or imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. (16 USC § 551; 18 USC §§ 3551, 3571, and 3581.)

Holden Ballpark Campground is located one mile outside of Holden Village. A simple open field nestled in the Railroad Creek drainage the Holden Ballpark provides a gateway for hikers to explore Glacier Peak Wilderness area.
This campground can be starting point or ending point to many of the hiking trails available around Holden.
