Directions
Badger's Den Campground is located 3 miles south of Tahoe City, on California Highway 89 (Emerald Bay Road).
From Sacramento, take U.S. Highway 50 to South Lake Tahoe and proceed north past the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and Highway 89 (the "Y"). Look for the Camp Richardson Resort sign on the right side of the Highway.
From North Shore (I-80, Reno, Truckee) take Highway 89 or U.S. Highway 50 to South Shore.

This place is a dump:
1. Toilets broken
2. No locks on stall doors
3. Soap dispensers falling off walls
4. Trash overflowing
5. Water source fouled with food waste
6. Garbage everywhere
7. Campsite group size grossly exceeded
8. No quiet hours enforced
9. Security did not enforce rules

Clean restroom, lots of space for 12 person, although there’s a bear walking around every night they are not aggressive unless you provoke them. Best camping experience

Nice campground and close to beach and some amenities, but it needs a second bathroom/shower facility to service the campground.

The campsite and bathrooms were very well maintained. There was a problem when we tried to move our campsite because we were experiencing very rowdy people in the campsite next to us. I called Recreation.gov to move the campsite to a vacant campsite on the other side of the property. They were of no help told me that I couldn’t move the campsite and when I went to Camp Richardson to ask them if they could move us. They referred me back to Recreation.gov. So the situation went nowhere and we were unable to move to a vacant site that was vacant for our entire state that we were there. We were forced to be around a rowdy crowd. Very unfortunate that the two sides couldn’t come together to assist a customer.

We found the campsite and surrounding area to be a great place to camp. The bike paths, coffee shop, and ice cream parlor were fantastic. The Grove restaurant was also great and the walk to the lake was very convenient.
That said there was a good deal of noise from other campers after quiet hours. There was also a lot of airhorn and car alarm use to scare away bears. I have camped in bear country before and didn't have a similar level of noise. For example Mt Whitney base camp had more bears and much less noise!
