This campground is heavily used by hunters. There were only 3 families camping the weekend we were there, and 3 groups of bear hunters with very barky packs of dogs. The issue is the state of the bathrooms which were left open all weekend and filled with a nightmarish number of flies. The old fly paper was lying torn on the ground, but not replaced. An animal hide hangs abandoned on a post in a corral. It is a beautiful area, though, with good roads from Costillo.

you guys need to get the water fixed. Horse camp hauling water is a problem in that area. I intend to come back next year and hopefully you will have the issues resolved by then.

The road leading up the mountain to the campground is about an hour from the nearest services and cell coverage. It is very rough and bumpy, and because it has been such a dry year, the drive was extremely dusty. By the time we arrived, there was a layer of dust inside the camper and on just about everything.
The camp host was very friendly and welcoming, which made for a great first impression. The campsites, however, are fairly close together, so expect to hear conversations and other typical campground noise from neighboring sites.
There are no trash receptacles at the campground, so be prepared to pack out all of your garbage. The vault toilets were reasonably clean, although they were nearly full when we arrived. A friendly public service announcement for fellow campers: please lower the toilet lid and close the door when you leave. It helps keep the facilities cleaner and more pleasant for everyone.
The campground also has several fishing ponds that you can either drive to or reach by walking about half a mile. Be aware that there are specific fishing regulations in place. For example, I believe some ponds are restricted to fly fishing only. If you plan to fish, I recommend reviewing the current regulations before your trip so you know what is and isn't permitted.

Nice car camping spots with trees aka shade. The sites were clean as well as the bathrooms. The camp host was very kind and friendly. I’d go back again.
