Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monument includes federal submerged lands
within the 3-mile belt off the island of St. John. These waters support a
diverse and complex system of coral reefs and other ecosystems such as
shoreline mangrove forests and seagrass beds.

## Overview

Virgin Island National Park Overnight Moorings are located on the north and
south shore surrounding the island of St. John.

Overnight moorings are available on a first-come, first-served basis only.
Visitors are required to physically arrive at the mooring to purchase and
claim a spot. Once on-site, you can pay for your mooring by scanning a QR code
using the Recreation.gov mobile app at the self pay floating paystation.
Download the free Recreation.gov mobile app on Android or iOS prior to your
arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service.

## Recreation

Moorings are available for day use and overnight use. Boaters have the
opportunity to visit nearby bays that offer various recreation opportunities
to include Honeymoon, Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay. Bays offer concessions and
snorkle rentals to explorer the surrounding waters.

The mooring system is a self pay honor system. Boaters must pay the mooring
fee at one of the floating pay stations. boaters are provided payment
instructions and marine brochure at the location. Download the Recreation,gov
mobile app prior to arriving.

protecting marine life that lives on the ocean seabed. Moorings are safe and

Virgin Islands National Park overnight moorings cost $26.00 per night.
Interagency Senior and Access Pass holders cost $13.00 per night. *** (Pass
number is required to receive discount rate*** Moorings are available on the
north and south side of the island. Payments are accepted at the floating
overnight stations at designated locations to include Caneel Bay, Maho Bay,
Leinster, Cruz bay, Saltpond, and Lameshur.

The refuge consists of the entire island and is located 2 miles south of St.
Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. The vegetation is comprised mostly of cactus,
brush, grasslands and there is a rocky shoreline. Long-term plans call for the
elimination of black rats in order to enhance the value of the area for
breeding seabirds. The surrounding waters are used by divers and snorkelers to
view coral reefs. The Coast Guard maintains a lighthouse on the island.
