The Scab Creek Recreation Area is located in the foothills of the Wind River
Mountains at roughly 8,200 feet. The recreation area provides parking for Scab
Lake and Scab Creek trailheads, as well as two camping areas, one for small
vehicles, and one for pack stock, trailers, and large RVs. The backpacker
parking, pack stock staging area, small vehicle campground and large vehicle
campground are all sites within the recreation area. This area provides access
to the Scab Creek Wilderness Study Area, and the greater Bridger Wilderness
trail system in the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The area has vault
toilettes, and potable water, as well as corrals in areas where pack stock are
allowed. Pack stock are not permitted at the backpacker parking area, or the
small vehicle campground.

established and managed as a primitive area in 1975. In April 1985, the Scab
Creek Instant Study Area was proposed by former president Ronald Reagan for
addition to the National Wilderness Preservation System. The Scab Creek WSA
adjoins the Bridger Wilderness in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, which
lies to the east. The WSA offers extraordinary natural wilderness features and
ample opportunity for solitary wilderness experiences.

Scab Creek Primitive Area

The Boulder Lake Recreation Area at 7,300 feet encompasses approximately 3
miles of shoreline at Boulder Lake and the surrounding area. Established site
are located at the west end of the lake on the north and south sides of the
dam. The North Boulder Lake campground is located on the north side of Boulder
Lake. The developed boat launch area is located 2.2 miles beyond the Stokes
Crossing turn-off on the south side of Boulder Lake. Uses include camping,
fishing, boating, picnicking, swimming, hunting and wildlife viewing.

The Boulder Lake Recreation Area at 7,300 feet encompasses approximately 3 miles of shoreline at Boulder Lake and the surrounding area. Established site are located at the west end of the lake on the north and south sides of the dam. The North Boulder Lake campground is located on the north side of Boulder Lake. The developed boat launch area is located 2.2 miles beyond the Stokes Crossing turn-off on the south side of Boulder Lake. Uses include camping, fishing, boating, picnicking, swimming, hunting and wildlife viewing.

The CCC Ponds/Pinedale Pathway are a perfect destination for those who enjoy
fishing, hiking, biking, wildlife viewing and cross-country skiing.  
  
The original CCC Ponds were developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC)
during The Great Depression in an effort by Franklin D. Roosevelt to create
jobs in the 1930s. The work consisted of reforestation, road and park
construction, flood control and beautification projects. The CCC Ponds are an
important historical feature to the Pinedale Area. .  
  
These Ponds were re-constructed during the 1990s and given specific themes to
provide for various wildlife species: the Fish Pond, Duck Pond, Beaver Pond,
and Frog Pond. A walking path was added to enable public access, as well as
the installation of benches, interpretive signs, a warming hut and a parking
lot. Attached to the CCC Ponds parking area is a paved bike path called the
Pinedale Pathway that loops from the parking lot back down into town for a
round trip of about 6 miles. In the winter 3.5 miles of the CCC Pond area and
part of the Pinedale Pathway are groomed for cross- country skiing
opportunities.
