## Overview:

The Jumbo Grade Trailhead is a day-use staging area for visitors setting out
on the Jumbo Grade Trail. The wide, rugged 8-mile trail takes riders from the
Washoe Lake area to the historic town of Virginia City, Nevada.

**Camping** : Dispersed camping is permitted if it is at least ¼ mile from the
trail and the trailhead. There are no amenities available outside of the
trailhead staging area.

**Vehicle Access:** A high-clearance vehicle is required. All roads are
unpaved, may be muddy, rugged, and may contain sharp debris.

**Activities:** The most popular activity is day-trip driving and riding along
the Jumbo Grade Trail to visit Virginia City. Most locals take off-highway
vehicles (OHVs) for the ride, but the trail is suitable for horseback riding,
mountain biking, and hiking. There are also a variety of scenic and less-
trafficked trails that can be accessed from the staging area.

## Point of Interest:

Where there’s a will, there’s a way. In the era of Virginia City’s peak fame,
the Jumbo Grade Trail was a busy and vital route for transporting building
materials, lumber, silver ore and gold ore.

During the Comstock Lode mining boom, this trail saw heavy traffic. Along this
winding 8-mile route, millions of board feet of lumber needed for the mines
were harvested in the Tahoe area and hauled up to Virginia City. Likewise, a
constant line of horses, mules, and wagons brought silver and gold ore down
from the mines to the Ophir Mill at Washoe Lake.

### History

  * Pre-1800s, this trail was established by local native peoples.
  * Ophir Grade: In 1860, the Ophir Mining Company developed the trail into a wagon road called “Ophir Grade”. The busy transport road connected the Ophir Milll at Washoe Lake to the Comstock mines in Virginia City. A steady stream of mule-led wagons carried silver and gold ore down from the mines, and timber up from the forests of Washoe Valley.
  * Jumbo Grade: In the early 1900s, miners at the Jumbo Mining District Camp used parts of this trail and started calling it “Jumbo Grade”.
  * Today, the trail is still called “Jumbo Grade”. The rugged and winding trail carves through the mountains, over stream crossings, past the ruins of the Jumbo Mining Camp, and into Virginia City, Nevada.

Boca Dam and Reservoir are features of the Truckee Storage Project. The
reservoir is on the Little Truckee River, 27 miles southwest of Reno, Nevada.
Open year-round (frozen during winter). A surface area of approximately 980
acres at full reservoir storage. Fishing season is year-round, with ice
fishing during the winter. Available species include kokanee salmon, rainbow,
brook, and brown trout. Access by paved road. Handicap access ramp with
platforms for fishing opportunities when the reservoir level is high enough.

Eagles Nest at Camp Richardson Resort

## Overview

Fallen Leaf Campground is situated on the north shore of Fallen Leaf Lake and
adjacent to Taylor Creek. The south shore of Lake Tahoe is less than a mile
away. The campground features 206 sites that include six yurts and standard
tent and RV sites. The campground is typically open from mid-May through mid-
October. Fallen Leaf Lake is less crowded and not as well-known as Lake Tahoe,
making this a great base camp for exploring the many sights and recreational
activities in the area. It's a popular campground and tends to fill quickly.

## Recreation

Both Fallen Leaf Lake and Lake Tahoe offer opportunities for non-motorized and
motorized boating, tubing, waterskiing and windsurfing. Fishing is available
at both lakes, but anglers generally have better luck at Lake Tahoe. Guests
can swim in Fallen Leaf Lake, even though there are no designated swimming
areas. The south shore of Lake Tahoe offers the Pope and Baldwin swim beaches.  
  
Hikers can access the 1-mile Moraine Trail from the campground. The Taylor
Creek Visitor Center is directly across Highway 89 and has interpretive
programs, guided walks on the Rainbow Trail and to the Stream Profile Chamber.

yurts sit on a wooden platform and have an electric light and space heater,
but no additional electric plug-ins. Interior furnishings include a futon and
bunk beds with mattresses. Cooking supplies and bedding are not provided.  
  
The tent and RV sites have paved parking aprons. Each yurt and standard site
has a bear-proof food storage locker, campfire ring, pedestal grill and picnic

Coin-operated shower facilities, water spigots and accessible restrooms with

and firewood and supplies can be purchased from the camp store. A public phone

and approval. Please Note: Refund requests made during or after departure can

Refunds for Emergency Closures: In the event of an emergency closure, the
Recreation.gov team will attempt to notify users and offer alternate dates (as
appropriate). If this is not possible, reservations will be cancelled and all
fees paid will be refunded. Reservation fees for free tickets are non-
refundable in the event of an emergency closure.

<p>Fallen Leaf Campground is situated on the north shore of Fallen Leaf Lake and adjacent to Taylor Creek. The south shore of Lake Tahoe is less than a mile away. The campground features 206 sites that include six yurts and standard tent and RV sites. The campground is typically open from mid-May through mid-October. Fallen Leaf Lake is less crowded and not as well-known as Lake Tahoe, making this a great base camp for exploring the many sights and recreational activities in the area. It's a popular campground and tends to fill quickly.</p>
<h2>Recreation</h2>
Both Fallen Leaf Lake and Lake Tahoe offer opportunities for non-motorized and motorized boating, tubing, waterskiing and windsurfing. Fishing is available at both 
lakes, but anglers generally have better luck at Lake Tahoe. Guests can swim in Fallen Leaf Lake, even though there are no designated swimming areas. The south 
shore of Lake Tahoe offers the Pope and Baldwin swim beaches.<br/><br/> 

Hikers can access the 1-mile Moraine Trail from the campground. The Taylor Creek Visitor Center is directly across Highway 89 and has interpretive programs, guided

part of the Meeks Bay area of Lake Tahoe (Da ow aga) for many millenium. Their
link to the land is an important part of the Meeks Bay Resort charm. It is the
perfect spot to recharge those drained reserves and immerse oneself in the
spectacular rustic environment.

Enjoy the sandy Meeks Bay beach, or rent a kayak or paddle board and venture
out onto blue waters. Explore the hiking trails that lead both north and south
along the lake as well as the Meeks Bay Trail which climbs into the Sierra
Nevada Desolation Wilderness Area to Phipps Pass and beyond. For more details

The Resort has abundant Day-Use parking and a grill for the hungry camper.

## Recreation

When most people imagine what to do at Lake Tahoe, they think outdoor
activities. Enthusiasts will find hundreds of miles of trails to hike, bike,
and ride horseback. The Meeks Bay Resort provides sunbathing, beach play,
swimming, and scuba diving.

Kayak and paddle boards can be rented onsite. While motorized craft are not
allowed in the bay, boating and water skiing are readily accessible elsewhere
on Lake Tahoe.

Anglers can land the big one at dozens of spots. Kokanee salmon and mackinaw,
rainbow, Lahontan Cutthroat and brown trout are found throughout the area. The
Washoe Tribe has actively helped improve the population of the Lahontan
Cutthroat Trout (Ɂímgi).

**Lodging:**

The Kehlet Mansion provides seven bedrooms, three bathrooms and a full size
kitchen. Enjoy the private deck, picture windows, and a full event area for
weddings, reunions and sepcial events.

The Washoe House, also known as the Point House, offers three bedrooms, one
bathroom, and a seperate studio cabin. Located on the south shore of the bay,
it offers unmatched privacy.

12 Lodges with studio, one and two bedroom floorplans. All units have kitchens
with utensils and cookware.

7 standalone cabins with studio, one and two bedroom floorplans. All cabins

**Camping:**

14 Non-electric campsites for tents and small pop-up trailers found north of
Meeks Creek.

side of the Meeks Creek.

23 RV sites with full hookups north on the northern side of Meeks Creek.
Several are pull through and can accommodate up to 60 feet of tow vehicle and
RV.

The Wa She Shu Grill offers a great selection of breakfast and lunch meals and
snacks.

The main lodge offers an assortment of clothing, souvenirs, snacks, beverages,
ice cream and sundries. It also offers a cozy lounge area to meet with
friends.

**Other offerings:**

Kayaks and paddle boards are available for full and half day rental.

Hot private shower facilities are available with purchase of tokens.

Several public restrooms with flush toilets are available.

## Natural Features

Meeks Bay (mayála wáťa) is located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe at a
6,225-foot elevation and is surrounded by many of Lake Tahoe’s most famous
attractions. You won’t need to go far to experience the iconic views that
travelers come from around the world to see. The abundant natural features
include snow covered peaks of the Sierra Nevada, forested mountainsides, green
meadows, miles of pristine shoreline, and impressive granite boulders. The
azure lake is rimmed by footpaths, hiking and biking trails. Don’t miss the
spectacular views of De ek Wadapush (Cave Rock) across the lake from the beach
of mayála wáťa (Meeks Bay). The more adventurous hiker can traverse the Tahoe
Rim Trail which offers panoramic views of the basin. Or one can venture deep
into the Desolation Wilderness to Phipps Pass from the Meeks Bay Trailhead.

## Charges & Cancellations

**If I book this reservation today, what are my options to change or cancel?**

Please remember that reservations at these facilities prevent other visitors
from using these sites. Planned changes to your stay should be made as far in
advance as possible. You can make changes to your reservation ahead of your
arrival date in Reservations.

**Changes**

If your new stay dates are completely different from your original stay dates,
there is a $10 change fee (per reserved site). There are no additional fees
for:

Adding or removing nights to your stay.

Changing to a different campsite.

Balances will adjust based on your new stay's nightly rate.

Changes on or after the arrival date are made at the discretion of Resort
Management and may result in forfeit of rental fees.

**Cancellations**

Meeks Bay Resort will require a non-refundable down payment on all lodging, RV
and Tent sites. Reservations will require a down payment equal to 50% of the
full daily rental rate. The remaining balance must be paid no later than 30
days prior to check-in. The Recreation.gov site will send the guest up to two
reminder emails with links to facilitate payment. Those emails are sent seven
days and 24 hours before the 30 day deadline. Down payments are non-
refundable.

If you do not complete the payment by the 30 day deadline, your reservation
will be cancelled and the down payment forfeited.

If you place a reservation 30 days or less prior to check-in, you must pay the
down payment and the remaining rental fee at the time of reservation. If you
cancel after that point you will be responsible for the $10 cancellation fee
and forfeit the down payment. If you cancel within 14 days of the check-in
date, you will forfeit the down payment and one day at the rental rate, as
well as the $10 cancellation fee.

This is an automated process and Meeks Bay Resort personnel cannot make
changes.

**Late Check-in and No Show**

Meeks Bay Resort will hold any paid reservation until the following day at
check-out time. Your reservation will be cancelled with no refund. If you have
not checked in by that time or contacted Meeks Bay Resort Management to
request one additional day to arrive.

<p>When most people imagine what to do at Lake Tahoe, they think outdoor activities. Enthusiasts will find hundreds of miles of trails to hike, bike, and ride horseback. The Meeks Bay Resort provides sunbathing, beach play, swimming, and scuba diving.  </p>
<p>Kayak and paddle boards can be rented onsite.  While motorized craft are not allowed in the bay, boating and water skiing are readily accessible elsewhere on Lake Tahoe. </p>
<p>Anglers can land the big one at dozens of spots. Kokanee salmon and mackinaw, rainbow, Lahontan Cutthroat and brown trout are found throughout the area.  The Washoe Tribe has actively helped improve the population of the Lahontan Cutthroat Trout (Ɂímgi).  </p>

<p>    The Kehlet Mansion provides seven bedrooms, three bathrooms and a full size kitchen. Enjoy the private deck, picture windows, and a full event area for weddings, reunions and sepcial events.</p>
<p>    The Washoe House, also known as the Point House, offers three bedrooms, one bathroom, and a seperate studio cabin.  Located on the south shore of the bay, it offers unmatched privacy.</p>
<p>    12 Lodges with studio, one and two bedroom floorplans. All units have kitchens with utensils and cookware.</p>
<p>    7 standalone cabins with studio, one and two bedroom floorplans. All cabins have kitchens stocked with utensils and cookware. </p>
<p><strong>Camping: </strong></p>
<p>    14 Non-electric campsites for tents and small pop-up trailers found north of Meeks Creek.</p>

<p>    23 RV sites with full hookups north on the northern side of Meeks Creek.  Several are pull through and can accommodate up to 60 feet of tow vehicle and RV.  </p>

<p>    The Wa She Shu Grill offers a great selection of breakfast and lunch meals and snacks.</p>

The abundant natural features include snow covered peaks of the Sierra Nevada, forested mountainsides, green meadows, miles of pristine shoreline, and impressive granite boulders. The azure lake is rimmed by footpaths, hiking and biking trails. Don’t miss the spectacular views of De ek Wadapush (Cave Rock) across the lake from the beach of mayála wáťa (Meeks Bay). The more adventurous hiker can traverse the Tahoe Rim Trail which offers panoramic views of the basin. Or one can venture deep into the Desolation Wilderness to Phipps Pass from the Meeks Bay Trailhead. </p>

<p>Please remember that reservations at these facilities prevent other visitors from using these sites. Planned changes to your stay should be made as far in advance as possible. You can make changes to your reservation ahead of your arrival date in Reservations. </p>
<p><strong>Changes</strong></p>
<p>If your new stay dates are completely different from your original stay dates, there is a $10 change fee (per reserved site). There are no additional fees for: </p>
<p>    Adding or removing nights to your stay.</p>
<p>    Changing to a different campsite. </p>
<p>Balances will adjust based on your new stay's nightly rate.</p>
<p>Changes on or after the arrival date are made at the discretion of Resort Management and may result in forfeit of rental fees. </p>
<p><strong>Cancellations</strong></p>
<p>Meeks Bay Resort will require a non-refundable down payment on all lodging, RV and Tent sites.  Reservations will require a down payment equal to 50% of the full daily rental rate.  The remaining balance must be paid no later than 30 days prior to check-in. The Recreation.gov site will send the guest up to two reminder emails with links to facilitate payment. Those emails are sent seven days and 24 hours before the 30 day deadline.  Down payments are non-refundable.  </p>
<p>If you do not complete the payment by the 30 day deadline, your reservation will be cancelled and the down payment forfeited.  </p>
<p>If you place a reservation 30 days or less prior to check-in, you must pay the down payment and the remaining rental fee at the time of reservation.  If you cancel after that point you will be responsible for the $10 cancellation fee and forfeit the down payment.   If you cancel within 14 days of the check-in date, you will forfeit the down payment and one day at the rental rate, as well as the $10 cancellation fee.</p>

Nevada Beach Campground sits in the Lake Tahoe Basin of Nevada. Minutes from
the bright blue water of Tahoe's eastern shores, campsites are nestled in a

Just minutes away from the campground, 22-mile-long Lake Tahoe provides

## Overview

William Kent Campground is conveniently located on Lake Tahoe's west shore, a
few miles south of Tahoe City. It straddles the highway and features not only
a large area in which to camp, but also a day-use area that is popular among
visitors.

## Recreation

Just minutes away from the campground, 22-mile-long Lake Tahoe provides
sunbathing, swimming, boating and water skiing. Anglers can look forward to
healthy fish populations of kokanee salmon and mackinaw, rainbow and brown
trout.  
  
The campground is also ideal for people planning a full day of bike riding
around Lake Tahoe. Bike trails that traverse the western shores of Lake Tahoe
begin near the campground.

## Facilities

The campground offers dozens of campsites, available for tent and RV camping.
Each is equipped with tables, campfire rings and grills. Flush toilets and
drinking water are provided. Each yurt provides a cabin-like space for a
family of five or six people. The yurts sit on a wooden platform interior
furnishings include a futon and bunk beds with mattresses. Cooking supplies
and bedding are not provided. The tent and RV sites have paved parking aprons.
Each yurt and standard site has a bear-proof food storage locker, campfire
ring, pedestal grill and picnic table.
