This 14-mile, paved, multi-use National Recreation Trail follows the route of
the now-abandoned Oregon Pacific & Eastern Railroad line, along the scenic
shores of the Row (rhymes with "cow") River and Dorena Reservoir. There are
many trailheads and places to stop and enjoy views of Dorena Lake and the
surrounding farm country. Several quaint, covered bridges are located nearby,
as is the historic Bohemia Mining Area, which features remnants of late 1800s
gold mines. The trestle bridge at Harms Park is one of several locations
immortalized on the silver screen. Movies filmed along the railway include
_Stand By Me_ with River Phoenix, _Emperor of the North_ with Ernest Borgnine,
and, in 1926, _The General_ with Buster Keaton.

## Know Before You Go

  * No camping is allowed along the trail.
  * No food or water is available on the trail. Several general stores are located in Cottage Grove, Dorena (across Row River Road from the trail), and Culp Creek (0.25 mile east on Row River Road).
  * Parking and restroom facilities are located at 2- to 3-mile intervals along the trail.
  * This Day Use area is open daily from dawn to dusk.
  * Visitors should not enter old mine tunnels, which are both hazardous and located on private property.

## Point of Interest

The Mosby Creek Covered Bridge, located just off the trail, is a white bridge
built in 1920. Extensive restoration work was completed in 1990. Row Point
survives as a remnant of a native prairie community, featuring showy displays
of wildflowers during spring.

offer boating, swimming, sailing, fishing and water skiing. Schwarz park
located downstream of the dam, offers overnight camping for families and
groups. Overnight camping is also available at Baker Park on the south side of
the lake. The lakeshore is managed for wildlife habitat as well, including
many species of birds and animals. Dorena Dam controls the Row River and
reduces flood stages downstream on the Willamette River.

**Individual Campsites:** A customer who cancels a reservation the day before
or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first

Primitive Campground will **close at 2PM on Sundays** and **reopen Fridays in
the afternoon** for the 2026 summer recreation season. This is to ensure Park
Rangers can provide safe public access to the campground and
facilities.**Holidays:** Memorial Day weekend, Primitive Campground will be
open Friday, May 22 and will close at 2PM on Monday May 25. For Independence
Day weekend, Primitive Campground will open Thursday, July 2 and close at 2PM
on Sunday, July 5. For Labor Day weekend, Primitive Campground will open on
Friday September 4, and close for the season at 2 PM on Monday Sept 7.

Ivan Oakes Campground is located on Lookout Point Lake in Oregon's Willamette
Valley.

Ivan Oakes Campground is located on the northern shore of Lookout Point Lake
in the Calapooya Mountains. The Eugene-to-Pacific Crest Trail (EPCT), a 108
mile long recreation trail that connects the city of Eugene to the Cascade
mountain range, runs along the campground providing easy access for hikers.
The reservoir is a popular fishing spot with chinook salmon, walleye, rainbow
trout, largemouth bass, and crappie.

## Facilities

Ivan Oakes is a semi-primitive campground that offers 24 single family
campsites. Campsites have picnic tables and fire rings. Vault toilets and
potable water are available. Signal Point boat ramp is located less than one
mile west of the campground and is usable at low water levels.

calling 1-877-444-6777.

**Cancelling/Changing a Reservation**

A $10.00 service fee will apply if you change or cancel your reservation. The
$10.00 service fee will be deducted from the refund amount. Depending on when
you cancel in relation to your arrival day, it may be considered a late
cancellation (see below).

**Late Cancellations**

**Individual Campsites:** A customer who cancels a reservation the day before
or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first
night's use fee (not to exceed the total paid for the original reservation).
Cancellations for a one-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid
and will not be subject to an additional service fee.

**Group Facility:** Customers who cancel a group overnight facility
reservation less than 14 days before the arrival date will pay a $10.00
service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee.

**No-Shows**

A no-show customer is one who does not arrive at a campground and does not
cancel the reservation by check-out time on the day after the scheduled
arrival date. Staff will hold a campsite until 2pm on the day following the
scheduled arrival date. No-shows are assessed $20.00 service fee and forfeit
the first night’s recreation fee for a campsite.

**Early Departures**

If a customer departs prior to the scheduled check-out date, they may be
eligible for a partial refund. Please notify staff at the facility if you
depart early to allow others to use the site. Customers may notify the call
center to request a refund of remaining unused nights. If a customer requests
a refund for an early departure after the facility check-out time has passed,
the customer will not be refunded for that night and is eligible for a refund
on any additional nights that will not be used.

**Refunds**

Customers may submit a refund request through their Recreation.gov profile
within 7 days of the end date of their reservation. Customers may also
initiate a refund request through the call center at any time after their
reservation has ended.

**Debit or Credit Card Purchases:** Refunds for debit or credit card payments
will be issued as a credit to the original card used to pay.

**Check or Cash Purchases:** Recreation.gov will mail a Treasury check for
refunds of cash, check, or money order payments to the address associated with
the reservation. You may update the address at the time you request the
refund. It may take up to 6-8 weeks for the Treasury check to arrive. Please
make sure your address is up to date in your customer profile.

Ivan Oakes Campground is located on Lookout Point Lake in Oregon's Willamette Valley.  
<h2>Recreation</h2>
Ivan Oakes Campground is located on the northern shore of Lookout Point Lake in the Calapooya Mountains. The Eugene-to-Pacific Crest Trail (EPCT), a 108 mile long recreation trail that connects the city of Eugene to the Cascade mountain range, runs along the campground providing easy access for hikers. The reservoir is a popular fishing spot with chinook salmon, walleye, rainbow trout, largemouth bass, and crappie. 
<h2>Facilities</h2>
Ivan Oakes is a semi-primitive campground that offers 24 single family campsites. Campsites have picnic tables and fire rings. Vault toilets and potable water are available. Signal Point boat ramp is located less than one mile west of the campground and is usable at low water levels.
<h2>Natural Features</h2>
Located in the Calapooya Mountains, Ivan Oakes is surrounded by woodland. With close proximity to the Willamette National Forest, the area is home to lots of wildlife. The weather is generally mild during the recreation season with temperatures ranging from the low 50s to the upper 90s. Chances of precipitation are high from May through mid-June.

Starting in May 2022, we will not take payment or reservations at the
campground. All reservations must be made prior to arrival through

Ivan Oakes Campground will **close at 2PM on Mondays** and **reopen Thursdays
in the afternoon** for the 2026 summer recreation season. This is to ensure
Park Rangers can provide safe public access to the campground and facilities.

This scenic 1,852 acre lake is surrounded by 22 miles of forested shoreline,
providing many opportunities for outdoor recreation such as boating, water
skiing, hiking and wildlife viewing. The land surrounding the lake is
protected and managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide habitat
for many species of waterfowl, upland game and non-game wildlife. Fall Creek
Lake is 25 miles southeast of Eugene, OR and 16 miles from Springfield off of
Jasper Lowell Road.
