Ralston Reservoir is formed by Ralston Dam, Shoshone Project, located
offstream on the Garland Canal about 2 miles southwest of Ralston, Wyoming. No
fishing. Excellent wildlife viewing area, especially wetland and waterfowl

accessible bridge and walkway to viewing area and restroom. No overnight

Ralston Reservoir

The McCullough Peaks WSA encompasses 25,210 acres of BLM-administered land,
640 acres of split-estate land, and 640 acres of state-owned land.  
  
The WSA consists of the badlands that form the north slope of the McCullough
Peaks. The terrain is characterized by sharp ridges and deeply eroded
drainages. There are also large expanses of open, gentle terrain. The area is
scenic and provides opportunities for solitude and primitive recreation.  
  
The panoramic views from the top of McCullough Peaks are outstanding and
include not only the study area's badlands but views of Heart Mountain, the
Beartooth Mountains and the Absaroka Range.  
  
A variety of opportunities for primitive and unconfined recreation can be
found throughout the area, including hiking, hunting, horseback riding, rock
hounding, nature study and photography. Game populations support upland bird
and limited deer hunting.  
  
The vividly colored and highly eroded ridges and hills have outstanding scenic
quality. Opportunities for wild horse viewing are present. The McCullough
Peaks area has been known for its paleontological and geologic interest for
some time.

bordered by Cedar and Rattlesnake Mountains through Cody, Wyoming, and

such as fishing, floating, waterfowl, upland bird, and big game hunting,
hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and other dispersed recreational

The majority of river activities are observed in the upper stretch of the
Shoshone, ranging from advanced kayaking at the Haden Arch (within the
Shoshone Canyon) to rafting from the boat ramps within Cody east to the
McCullough Peaks area. The BLM parcels along the Shoshone offer wonderful
access to the river and provides for exceptional outdoor recreation within and
outside of Cody.

includes trout, walleye, and catfish. Fishery open year-round with Wyoming
State fishing license. Approximately 800 surface acres. Boating with motors
less than 10 horsepower. Available services include restroom, picnic tables,
primitive boat ramp, primitive camping. No drinking water. Other activities
include watchable wildlife and waterfowl hunting in season with Wyoming State
license.

Deaver Reservoir

This horseback riding and hiking trail winds for five miles through BLM-
managed public lands and state land to Bald Ridge in the Shoshone National
Forest. The elevation ranges from 4,880’-8,400’. Spectacular views of the
Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone River to the west and of Heart Mountain to the
east await you.  
  
Pronghorn, mule deer, moose, elk, and grizzly and black bears may be
encountered along this trail. Waterfowl are often found at the lakes near the
trailhead and soaring raptors are often sighted.  
  
The trail is steep and arduous requiring good physical condition of both
humans and horses. The trail is marked by trail signs, and then rock cairns as
it winds up Bald Ridge. The middle and upper portions are not marked or
constructed; users must pick their own route up the mountain.  
  
BLM-administered public lands in the Bald Ridge area are closed to human
presence from January 1 - April 30 each year to protect the wintering big
game.  
  
This is grizzly bear country, so, be bear aware!
