Directions

Pictured Rocks NL is located on the south shore of Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, between the towns of Munising (west) and Grand Marais (east). Access the west side of the park via Michigan highways M-28 and M-94 to Munising. State highway M-77 leads to Grand Marais on the east side. Alger County Road H-58 runs parallel and through the park, providing access to spur roads that lead to scenic overlooks, trailheads, campgrounds, beaches, etc. Most park roads are closed in winter due to snow.

Everything is always top notch at 12 mile beach. Vault toilets are spotless, the water is always dependable and clean and the sites are spacious and cared well for. The camp hosts are great. We only have one suggestion, please repair/rebuild the middle stairway. By not having that stairway, people climb up and down the bluffs which add to erosion. Keep up the great work and thank you for making this place one of the most beautiful places on our planet. Grand Marais and Munising are lovely communities with friendly proprietors…enjoy!

It's a wonderful campground and area. There's nothing on earth quite as nice as Picture Rocks.

Loved the campground itself but site 1 was constant cars doing U-turns right in front of the site. Left after the first night just because we found a better spot. Would come back again but not to this site

Beautiful small campground with clean vault toilets. Close to the lake & the river—an easy walk. Marshy area due to rain meant is was a mosquito bog!

Could hear the waves all night! It was a great campsite and great size. Easy to hike to the lighthouse and to the sand dunes from campground
