amongst a forest of pines along Little Tesuque Creek. The park is a short
drive from Santa Fe and offers excellent group facilities and campsites. There
are beautiful hiking trails with spectacular views. You can enjoy Hyde
Memorial State Park in the winter months too with snowshoeing, sledding and
cross-country skiing.  
  
The historic Hyde Park lodge was built in the 1930s by the Civilian
Conservation Corps, along with the ski runs and tow rope building high above
the lodge. The visitor center in front of the lodge is also a historic
building that used by the Boy Scouts, and contains related exhibits. The
historic Lodge is the perfect location for your next family reunion, wedding

There is a vaulted toilet at the far west end of the parking lot. This
campground is less developed than most, and primarily serves those who use it
for an overnight stay before embarking on a backpack into the Pecos. There is
ample space for trailer/RV camping, but no dump station is available. There is
no potable water and no Campground Host. The entire area is very scenic, and
NM 475 is also designated as the Santa Fe Scenic Byway. Because of the scenic
quality and the easy access from Santa Fe, the area is very busy, especially
in the summer and in the fall aspen viewing season.

fall aspen viewing season. both above and below Big Tesuque Campground,
including hiking, biking, and picnic areas. Winter activities include both
nordic and alpine skiing. Tesuque is pronounced "tes-sue-kay"

vaultedtoilet. There is drinking water available and a host on site to answer
any questions. The campground opens in May and closes in mid October. This is
a popular spot for Albuquerque recreationists, so make reservations early!

**PROHIBITIONS**  
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a) and (b), the following
are prohibited on the  
National Forest System (NFS) lands, roads, and trails in the Pecos/Las Vegas
Ranger District, Santa  
Fe National Forest, described below and shown on the attached map incorporated
into this Order  
as Exhibit A (the “Described Areas/Roads/Trails”):

  1. Going into or being upon the Described Areas which are closed for the protection of public   
health and safety. 36 C.F.R. § 261.53(e).

  2. Using a vehicle on the Described Roads. 36 C.F.R. § 261.54(a).
  3. Being on the Described Trails. 36 C.F.R. § 261.55(a).

**EXEMPTIONS**  
Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this
Order:

  1. Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas   
Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting them from this
Order or a written  
determination by a Forest Service authorized officer that a permit is not
required under 36 C.F.R.  
§ 251.50(e)(1) or (2).

  2. Any Federal, State, or Local Officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting resource   
in the performance of an official duty.

  3. Landowners crossing NFS lands in order to access their private property.

**DESCRIBED AREAS/ROADS/TRAILS**

  * The Barillas Lookout area specifically, all NFS lands within the boundary starting at the   
western junction of National Forest System Road (FR) 83 and FR 83Y, then
following FR 83 in a  
northeasterly direction to its junction with FR 83Y, then following FR 83Y in
a westerly direction  
to its junction with FR 83, the place of beginning.

  * FR 83 starting at its western junction with FR 83Y, then traveling west until its eastern   
junction with FR 83Y.

  * FR 263 in its entirety, starting at the National Forest Boundary, then traveling approximately 9   
miles until its terminus at the Burro Basin Recreation Site (Trailhead).

  * FR 263B, in its entirety, starting at its junction with FR 263, then traveling in a   
northwesterly direction until it terminates at the boundary with the private
land inholding near  
Harvey Ranch. This includes all non-contiguous sections of FR 263B.

  * FR 263C in its entirety, starting at its junction with FR 263 the National Forest  
Boundary, coordinates 105°29'37"W 35°43'3"N, then traveling in a southwesterly
direction until it terminates at the private land inholding at Calf Canyon.

  * NFS Trail 251, the Skyline Trail, starting at its junction with FR 83 (coordinates 105°28'51"W   
35°34'23"N), then traveling in a northerly direction for approximately 13
miles to its junction  
with FR 645.

  * All NFS lands within the developed recreation sites along FR 261 and FR 263 including: El   
Porvenir Developed Recreation Site (Campground), 35.42’42” N, - 105.24’41” W,
EV Long Developed Recreation Site (Campground), 35.41’53.73 N, - 105.25’24”W,
Baker Flat Developed Recreation Site  
(Picnic Site), 35.42’23” N, 105.26’25”W, Oak Flats Developed Recreation Site
(Picnic Site)  
35.42’12” N, 105.26’3”W, Big Pine Developed Rec Site (Picnic Site) 35.42’46”N,
105.27’51”W, and  
Burro Basin Developed Recreation Site (Trailhead) 35.43’27”N, 105.30’31”W.  

**PURPOSE**  
The purpose of this Order is to protect public health and safety from Hermits
Peak and Calf Canyon  
post-fire conditions.  
  
**IMPLEMENTATION**  

  1. This Order shall be in effect from May 4, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. through December 31, 2027, at 12:00   
a.m., unless rescinded.

  2. A map identifying the Described Areas/Roads/Trails, is attached and made part of this Order as   
Exhibit A. For a digital version of this Order and Exhibit A, go to

  3. Unless otherwise expressly defined in this Order, the terms used in this Order are defined by   
the regulations of the Secretary of Agriculture, 36 C.F.R. Chapter II, Parts

terms in this Order that are not expressly defined in the Order or 36 C.F.R.
Chapter II, Parts  
200-299, their meaning shall be determined by their plain language
definitions.

  4. A violation of the above prohibitions is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not

drinking water, picnic tables and grills. Six of the 15 units have three-sided
shelters. Campsites are suitable for trailers up to 22 feet in length.

Situated on the Pecos River, Field Tract Campground provides an inviting
forested setting. The Sangre De Cristo Mountains surround the Pecos Canyon and
provide magnificent opportunities for wildlife viewing. Bald eagles migrate
through the winter, and can be seen soaring throughout the canyon.

This 23 site Campground is situated in a beautiful steep canyon right along
Holy Ghost Creek, 16 miles north of Pecos on NM 63 and FR 122.

**Facilities:** vaulted toilets, trash bins, tables and grills.

**Caution: Holy Ghost Road is very narrow and is not suitable for large
trailers.**

Avoid driving off the pavement on the high bank (uphill side) of the road to
protect endangered plant habitat. Take only photos of flowers, **do not pick
them**. Leaving them provides for pollinators (butterflies and bees) and seeds
for next year's flowers.

Please remove mud, seeds, vegetation and debris from everything (vehicles,
stock, tents, blankets, clothes, etc.) before entering the Santa Fe National
Forest, especially Holy Ghost Canyon, to prevent the spread of invasive plants
and weeds.

alongside it. A network of trails invites hikers and horseback riders to
discover the stunning landscapes of the surrounding wilderness.

Hiking and horseback riding are the most popular activities at Holy Ghost
Campground. Holy Ghost Trail #283 runs along Holy Ghost Creek for 4.2 miles

beautiful lakes (Katherine, Stewart, Johnson, and Spirit Lake).

privacy and convenience. Individual campsites in the main campground below are
available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each are equipped with a grassy
tent pad, picnic table, and campfire ring with grill.

Accessible vault toilets and trash collection are provided for your
convenience. Please note that there are no hookups available, so be sure to
bring your own water or a filter for stream water. The road leading to the
campground can be narrow in some areas, drive with caution.

the forest and the majestic mountains. Nature lovers will delight in the
diverse wildlife and variety of bird species that inhabit the surrounding

features 14 indivdual units, vaulted toilets, trash bin, tables, fire
pit/grill, 4 horse corrals. Maximum recommended length for vehicle _and_ horse
trailer is 30 feet. **Forest Road 223 which provides access to this Campground
is rough and is not recommended for low clearance vehicles.  **

<p><strong>Important Note: The campground is OPEN to the public but visitors may encounter a closed gate on Forest Road 223 before the campground. This gate is for livestock management. raptors inhabit the nearby Forest. Hikers find this location convenient to the
popular Pecos Wilderness Areas trails which can be easily accessed from the
campground.

Jacks Creek Campground

## Overview

Jack's Creek Group Area is a picturesque, high-elevation campground situated
just 50 miles from Santa Fe. Set at an altitude of approximately 8,000 feet
within the Santa Fe National Forest, visitors can enjoy moderate temperatures
and invigorating mountain breezes.

Perfect for family reunions, recreational events, and large gatherings, it
features 2 spacious group units to rent (Group A and Group B), each
accommodating up to 40 guests. Open from mid-April to mid-November, this
campground provides stunning views of the surrounding wilderness, making it an
ideal retreat for outdoor enthusiasts.

## Recreation

The campground's close proximity to the popular Jacks Creek Trail is an added
bonus. Jacks Creek Trail #257 is 14.3 miles long, starting at Trail 25 and
ending at Trail 251. This trail is best for experienced hikers and horseback
riders, making it a great option for those seeking a challenge. The trail is
open for hiking, backpacking, and horseback riding. A common route leads to
Pecos Baldy Lake, where overnight camping is allowed, with campfires permitted
200 feet from the water.

Fishermen can enjoy catching rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout in Jacks
Creek. Although Jacks creek is not regularly stocked, you can visit New Mexico

is located on the edge of the Pecos Wilderness, which encompasses 160,000

Down the road from to the group campground, Jack's Creek enhances the area’s
natural beauty, creating a serene atmosphere ideal for relaxation and great
trout fishing. The region teems with diverse wildlife, including elk, mule

The Cerro Pelado Area closure prohibits members of the public from entering
Trail 137 from access points South of the East Fork Trailhead. Entry is
allowed North from the East Fork Trailhead to Las Conchas Trailhead.

Please remember that this campground is special. Help keep it clean and
beautiful by using the trash dumpsters. Campground has 52 camp sites with
picnic table and fire ring. Paved access which allows trailers and RV's up to
