Cave Creek Campground is open for reservations and first come first serve
camping Memorial Day - Labor Day weekends. **Sites are open to tent camping
only and cannot accommodate RVs or travel trailers.**

Payments for first come first serve campsites must be made at one of the
visitor centers between 9 am and 4 pm. Visitor centers are located at 201
Caves Highway and 21000 Caves Highway, Cave Junction, Oregon 97523. **Only
credit/debit cards are accepted for all cave tour fees, campground fees, and
Interagency Passes.**

Entrance to Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve is free, but cave
access is only available with a guide.

The Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve offers a variety of hiking
trails through old growth forests, high mountain meadows, or along babbling
moutain creeks. The surface areas of the park remain open year-round. There is
no fee to enter the park or hike the surface hiking trails.

through angled marble passages deep underground on a ranger-guided tour of the
Oregon Caves. Wonder at the smooth flowstones, stalactites and stalagmites.

Oregon Caves National Monument & Preserve

Rough and Ready Flat has been a popular wildflower observation area for
decades where the evolution of new plant species (hybrids) is occurring. The
impetus to protect the area began in 1937 with the Illinois Valley Garden
Club. In 1994, a total of 1164 acres of BLM land surrounding Rough and Ready
Creek were designated an Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) to
protect botanical, wildlife/fisheries, hydrologic systems and other natural
systems or processes.  

## Know Before You Go:

  * A 0.3 mile long interpretive trail originates at the parking area and picnic shelter. Another picnic table is located near the trail’s end. 
  * Activities here include: wildflower viewing, picnicking, hiking, nature study, and educational visits. The trail passes through an area protected for its special status plants and Serpentine ecosystem. 
  * Please stay on the main trail to avoid erosion and disturbing sensitive vegetation. 
  * No drinking water is available. 
  * The area is open for day-use only from sunrise to sunset. Hours vary depending on season.

biologically outstanding ecoregions in the world. It harbors a multitude of
rare or special status plants endemic to the serpentine soils of the Siskiyou
Mountains.

_(Darlingtonia californica)_ , that is. The 1/8 mile Eight Dollar Mountain
Interpretive Boardwalk provides an easy walk through towering pines to view
one of southern Oregon’s most unique botanical features, Darlingtonia fens
(wetlands). Educational panels along the boardwalk provide information about
the California pitcher plant, its wet serpentine habitat, and the drier
surrounding slopes. A moderate hike along the 1-mile Jeffrey Pine Loop Trail
passes through serpentine habitats, follows an historic mining ditch, and
offers views of the Illinois River. Visit these trails in late April through
early June for peak wildflower viewing.

range of environments. The Enchanted Forest trail is 1.7 miles, and leads to
the Felton Trail, which is 1.5 miles. The Felton Memorial Trail was
constructed as a memorial to three men who perished when a helicopter crashed
on BLM lands near the terminus of the trail. Both trails end at private
property, please respect it and do not trespass. Both trails are out and back
only, they do not make a loop. Parking is limited, and users are reminded to
not block driveways that are on either side of the small parking area.
