Modoc National Forest

Modoc National Forest offers beautiful, peaceful campgrounds and scenic lake views with good fishing and hiking opportunities. Sites are generally clean, spacious, and family-friendly, but reservations can be challenging due to occasional mix-ups and limited availability. Visitors appreciate the friendly atmosphere and well-maintained facilities, though cell reception is limited and some roads leading to the lake are rough.

Lovely spot, very comfortable and well stocked. One draw back it that the gate was locked and the code for cottage did not work on the gate lock. We had to carry our gear quite a ways.

Great area. Good fishing. A lot of logging being done and they start around 7am. Road back off the main hwy is approx 34 miles of axle breaking holes and raised asphalt that can scramble the eggs in your cooler. After the logging is done I hope they work on the road!

Overall, the experience was good. However, pulled into spot 52, and it was really sloped back to front. We moved to another open campsite and paid again for the new site. I saw a lot of sites that should be leveled. Five minutes with a grader. Also, trees hang over the driveways. Please trim over hanging trees. The restrooms were very clean. Great job. Garbage's were emptied, appreciate it.
