Nestled between Blue Ridge and Cedar Roughs, east of the Napa Valley, Lake Berryessa offers year-round recreation opportunities. Lake Berryessa's water reaches temperatures of up to 75 degrees in the summer, making it an ideal place for water sports. Anglers enjoy fishing for both cold and warm water species, such as rainbow trout, bass, catfish, crappie, and bluegill. The Bureau of Reclamation provides two large day use areas (Oak Shores and Smittle Creek), Capell Cove launch ramp, and many smaller dispersed day use areas. There are Recreation Areas around the lake that are managed by concessionaires under contract with Reclamation and provide camping, day use and boating facilities. Contact the concession areas directly for information about amenities.

The only downfall to staying here is the bathroom situation. With all the camp sites full there should be bathrooms with shower access. We stayed 6 days and the out houses were never emptied.

Navigating the roads to the campsite in the RV was a bit of a challenge, but it was all worth it. This place offered breathtaking views and a safe, peaceful atmosphere. The area was immaculately clean and well-maintained. The camp sites were spacious and equipped with barbecue garbage cans and fire pits. My site was conveniently located near the boat launch, but there were both good and bad aspects. The bad was the constant presence of boats and jet skis using the launch throughout the day. However, the good was the stunning views that could be enjoyed both day and night. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely be returning..

Some aspects of this campground were very nice, the lake is huge and not crowded, the water was perfect. But, it felt like it was not very well cared for and no rules for any kind were enforced. The campsites were ok. We were there for 4 nights and the first couple of nights were fine but Friday and Saturday were really busy and that's when we really noticed how weirdly laid out some areas are. The sites across from us were parallel to us and the people camping there decided to camp on the beach instead, completely taking over the whole beach so we had to go to more rocky areas to get into the water. there are steps to the beach but they were all blocked by campers as that's where some sites are located. We will not return.

There were 8 cars parked in one spot and they played their music very loud and got into multiple verbal altercations that were threatening violence
Popularity: Very quiet

Busiest in August, when about 18% of guest capacity is reserved. Based on 4 years of reservations.
