Kortes Dam reservoir is located in a narrow canyon below Seminoe Dam. No boat
ramp available due to frequent water surges from Seminoe Dam. The Miracle Mile
Area extends downstream approximately 5.5 miles from the bottom of Kortes Dam
to the boundary of the southern management unit of the Pathfinder National
Wildlife Refuge. Eleven primitive camping areas in the Miracle Mile. Available
species include brown trout, cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, and walleye. No
fish stocked in Kortes Reservoir. Rainbow trout stocked annually in the
Miracle Mile. A barrier-free fishing pier and restroom are located at the

The Bennett Mountains WSA encompasses 6,003 acres of BLM-administered land
with no inholdings or split estate. The study area contains three basic types
of topography: the mountain plateau/ridges, the steep, rocky ledges and the
many tributary draws. Vegetation is primarily grasses, sagebrush and other
shrubs, with pockets of pine, aspen and willows. The Bennett Mountains WSA
provides opportunities for primitive recreational activities that primarily
include hunting, hiking, trapping, camping, wildlife viewing and sightseeing.
The rugged and diverse terrain provides high quality opportunities for a
primitive and unconfined type of recreation. There are no unique or
exceptional recreation opportunities within this WSA.

the pine, fir, and aspen. Choose a variety of road surfaces from maintained
graveled to undeveloped two-tracks. Some private land is on the mountain so
ask permission before riding off of public roads. Also, there may be active
logging operations on the mountain so be alert for equipment and logging
trucks. A variety of rides can be found from a 31-mile loop ride based out of
Prior Flat Campground (no water available) to shorter rides on the mountain.
Trips can last one hour to all day. Wildlife viewing includes deer, elk and
pronghorn.

The North Platte Project extends 111 miles along the river valley from near
Guernsey, Wyoming to below Bridgeport, Nebraska. Pathfinder Dam and Reservoir
are part of this project. Pathfinder Dam is one of the first constructed by
the Reclamation Service (now the Bureau of Reclamation). Listed in the
National Register of Historic Places, Pathfinder Dam is the primary historic
attraction at the reservoir. Construction of the masonry dam between 1905 and
1909 was a major engineering feat. A small interpretive center is located in
the historic dam tender's house. The dam is in a granite canyon on the North
Platte River about 3 miles below its junction with the Sweetwater River. Parts
of the reservoir are included in the Pathfinder National Wildlife Refuge.
There are 3 campgrounds and 3 boat ramps. Pathfinder facilities. Available
fish species include brown trout, cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, ohrid trout,
and walleye. Rainbow and cutthroat trout are stocked annually in the
reservoir. The Pathfinder Interpretive Center and 1.7-mile interpretive trail
are located near the dam. The interpretive trail may be accessed across the
