Reviews

J Percy Priest Lake campground continues to be appreciated for its spacious, clean, wooded, and flat campsites with lake access and privacy between sites. The hosts and gate attendants receive strong praise for their helpfulness and friendliness. However, some visitors noted issues such as loud noise from work crews, lack of monitored gate entry, damaged bathhouse facilities requiring driving to alternate restrooms, and the need for improved roadways and more electric and water sites near the lake. Overall, it remains a peaceful and scenic spot with attentive staff but with opportunities for amenity improvements and better entry security.

We love Poole Knobs. It’s an old campground right on the lake, and most of the water sites are very nice! If you have a boat, some of the water sites are not great for boats, due to large rocks in the water, ex: 64 and 46. Otherwise, those are great sites. Several sites need new gravel, and I report it every year, however I’m told that the state only provides a small amount each year and it’s not enough to accommodate. And some of the paved sites (such as 30, 32) are great, but when it rains, mud comes pouring across them. We still love the campground, but it would be great if more could be done.

Very clean campground and bathrooms. Roomy sites. Beach at the lake water was warm. Hard to get into the campground. For a reason.
