Hovenweep National Monument
Directions
The Hovenweep Visitor Center is located 40-45 miles from Cortez, CO, and Blanding and Bluff, UT. If you use a GPS or a navigation app on your phone, make sure that you have set your destination to the Hovenweep National Monument Visitor Center, and that your route matches the directions on our website. Alternate routes to the visitor center, and any road to our remote, outlying units, can be very rough.

Wonderful campground! I was the only one there for most of my stay because of the heat. The trails were spectacular! Unfortunately, rodents chewed up the wires on my truck engine causing major damage while I was there.

The camp site is well maintained and clean. The ravens can make a mess of things when you leave your camp unattended so remember to pack things away neatly before departing from your camp for any period of time. The satellite locations are well worth visiting, the rangers provided good instructions for finding them. Enjoy your stay.

I travel alone. Sadly, issues with my legs -- thank you, getting older -- made it unwise for me to do the hikes. I would have done them in a heartbeat otherwise.
Campground is very nicely situated.
Popularity: Very quiet
Busiest in August, when about 4% of guest capacity is reserved. Based on 2 years of reservations.
