Fishlake Scenic Byway (U-25)

Fishlake Scenic Byway (U-25) runs through the Fish Lake Basin at an elevation of 8,850 feet. In the basin lies a geological wonder, a 2,500-acre lake formed by the shifting of the earth's faults. Gracing the popular fishing site is historic Fish Lake Lodge made by the hands of determined pioneers. Bicyclists and nature lovers can find a variety of trails through the surrounding Fishlake National Forest. While enjoying the wonders of nature, it is common to see a deer or two right along the byway. Fall is glorious along the byway, as the various shades of red, orange, and yellow brighten the aspen-covered mountains. As snow blankets the forests and glades, snowshoers and cross-country skiers can find a peaceful solitude throughout the mountains.

Directions

**Navigating the Byway:** **From Northern/Central Utah (Salt Lake or Provo)** * Head south on I-15. Take the Scipio exit (188) to US Highway 50. Travel 30 miles on Highway 50 to Salina. Travel from Salina to Sigurd on I-70 (take exit 48, which is the start of Utah Highway 24). * Follow Highway 24 south to the Fish Lake turnoff (Utah Highway 25, the Fish Lake Scenic Byway). **From Southern Utah or Cedar City** * Travel north on I-15. Take exit 95 and travel southeast on Utah Highway 20 for 21 miles. Then take US 89 north to Kingston. At Kingston take US Highway 62 east and then north at Otter Creek Reservoir to its junction with Utah Highway 24. Head south on Highway 24 to the Fish Lake turnoff (Utah Highway 25, the Fish Lake Scenic Byway). * Follow Utah Highway 25 northeast 13 miles to the end of the byway. You enter the Fishlake National Forest about 3 miles along the route.
