## Overview

East Fork Campground is located on the shores of East Lynn Lake on the East
Fork of Twelvepole Creek, near East Lynn, WV. Visitors come to East Fork for
camping, boating, water-skiing, fishing, hiking, hunting and picnicking.

## Recreation

East Lynn Lake stretches 12 miles up Twelvepole and offers 44 miles of
shoreline. It provides many recreational activities, including boating, water
skiing, canoeing and swimming.  
  
Anglers fish for largemouth, smallmouth, and striped bass, black crappie, red-
breast sunfish, walleye, channel catfish and muskellunge. 29 species of fish
have been found in the lake.  
  
Several miles of hiking trails thread through the wooded hills on the
lakeshore, including the 1.5-mile East Fork Trail, which begins within the
campground. Other trails in the area include the Damsite Trail, Overlook Trail
and Lakeside Trail.

## Facilities

The campground offers 167 sites with electrical and/or water hookups.
Amenities include flush and pit toilets, showers, drinking water, and a dump
station. A boat ramp, amphitheater, playground, and basketball and volleyball
courts are on-site.

The lake is situated among rolling hills forested with a mix of upland
hardwood trees. A variety of wildlife makes its home around East Lynn Lake,
including black bears, white-tailed deer, grouse, rabbits, raccoons,
squirrels, turkeys and waterfowl.

public lands open to hunting, fishing and hiking.

East Lynn Lake has recently become home to several bald eagles. They can commonly be seen resting or flying overhead in the campground throughout the year.

Area 02 has a beautiful field behind their sites not on the water giving enough space for everyone camping to get involved with games like horse shoes and corn hold (horse shoe and corn hole areas are found in the open field).

East Lynn Lake Shelters are perfect for gathering friends and family for a
fun-filled day of picnicking. Choose from four lakeside shelters along the
northern tip of East Lynn Lake, a 1,005-acre lake just 35 miles south of
Huntington, WV.  
  
East Lynn Lake is a man-made reservoir part of an Ohio River Basin Flood
management program. Today, it's a beloved outdoor recreation area for water
sports and hiking.

## Recreation

The reservoir is sizeable enough that there are both wake-permitted and no
wake zones. Visitors interested in water skiing can have their fun, while
fisherman populate the calmer portions of the lake. More interested in the
latter? East Lynn Lake boasts 29 species of native West Virginian fish,
including musky, crappie, and bass. Outdoorsmen with a competitive edge can
participate in bass tournaments held April through October.

Great for large groups and families. Each shelter seats up to 100 people, with
nearby playgrounds and grassy fields. Shelter 1 and 2 have basketball courts
as well.

Beech Fork Lake is a 720-acre lake in the hills of West Virginia with fishing,
swimming and boating opportunities. Camping is available at nearby Beech Fork
State Park. A solar-powered visitor center is located at the damsite, 7 miles
south of Huntington, West Virginia. There is a 10-HP limit on boats.

Take a day trip to Beech Fork Lake and choose from one of five picnic areas.
Hang out, fire up the grill, and enjoy time spent outdoors on one of the many
hiking trails that weave through droves of Appalachian hardwood trees. Keep an
eye out for birds like thrushes, chats, and cuckoos.

## Recreation

Fishing is a popular activity, both by boat and on shore. Common fish include
largemouth and hybrid striped bass, catfish and saugeye. Hiking is another
great thing to do. The Spillway Trail can be accessed from shelters 1 and 2.

Kids will be pleased to find horseshoe pits and a playground near each
shelter. Basketball and volleyball courts are also provided for the sports
enthusiasts, as well as a playground and swimming area near the deck.

## Facilities

Electric hookups are included with each shelter, so you can bring anything
from an electric grill to Christmas lights when planning your outing to the
lake.  
  
Traditional grills are also supplied, so don't forget the charcoal. The deck
is not a covered shelter and does not have electricity.

Stemming from the lake are lush river valleys that attract many types of
birds.  
  
Shelters are set in an open area with scattered trees near the northwest end
of the lake. Two of the Beech Fork Shelters are close to the lake and feature
panoramic views. The other two shelters are near a stream below the dam.  
  
The deck is at Stower's Branch Swim Beach in a shaded area close to the lake.
A wooded area borders the recreation areas.

Shelters are a close drive away from the Stower's Branch Swimming Beach, where
the deck is located. The beach is close to the marina, a convenient spot for
boat rentals, bait, and tackle.  
  
Beech Fork State Park, a 3,144 protected area for hiking, camping, boating and
wildlife spotting, is on the eastern edge of the lake and about a 25-minute
drive from the shelters.
