Coronado National Forest

Showers Point Group Site #1 Tucked beneath towering ponderosa pines, this site feels like a proper mountain escape — the kind of spot where you look up and just see canopy for days. What we loved: - The whole site was clearly well cared for, and yes, that includes the bathrooms (a genuinely underrated pro for a group campground!) - The tent pad was wonderfully flat, no midnight rolling downhill, no rock-dodging at 2am. - Our camp host was amazing! Checked in with us when we arrived. Firewood was available for purchase right from them! - Water access at both the picnic tables and the bathrooms - Trash was well maintained, with a bear box for trash near the bathrooms - We spotted deer wandering nearby, a lovely bonus for the kids - Speaking of kids: ours had an absolute blast. Plenty of room to run around and explore safely - Nighttime and early morning temps were gorgeous! Crisp, cool mountain air that made for great sleeping weather - We visited the first week of August and got rained on our first night, with midday temps in the low 80s. Woke up as if nothing happened! Worth knowing before you book: - The bathroom sits a little too close for comfort to the tent pad, not a dealbreaker. - The picnic tables, covered under a ramada, are a hike from the fire ring and tent pad, and downhill to boot. We ended up not using them. Also, there was no electric outlet at this site. - Parking is a genuine trek from the site itself, so pack light or make peace with extra trips hauling gear. You can temporarily park near the accessible path if you want to roll things to the campsite. - You're close enough to the highway that road noise drifts in, not overwhelming, but present enough to notice, especially at quieter moments and with loud motorcycles and cars. - Cell service was choppy. - The access road transitions from a dirt/off-road stretch off the highway back to pavement near the campground itself, nothing that requires special clearance, just a heads up.

So surprised how empty the campground was. After school starts in August is a primo time to go. The campground has no internet reception so be ready to be off line.

After a 10 day stay in June we came home and immediately booked our recent stay. Camp hosts Toby and Craig made their friendly rounds. Pam and Lou were diligent at the booth and Kevin kept our restroom clean. Our only excursion was to Summerhaven for an ice run.

I arrived on Sunday just afternoon and the bathrooms were clean the trash was picked up my campsite was three of any clutter or trash. The hostess was a sweet lady. My only issue was it was hot it was hotter than the weather had said it was going to be and I could hear traffic all night long. So maybe next time I go further into the campsites?

The campsite was perfect, set back from the road for more privacy. We came it was perfect weather during monsoon season, although it was still a bit hot midday. I would recommend this campsite for the locals to get out of town for a quick getaway and experience nature.
