Camping facilities at Point Reyes National Seahsore include four hike-in/bike-
in-only campgrounds in the southern area of the park and twenty boat-in-only
campsites on Tomales Bay. Camping is allowed only in designated campgrounds
and sites. Dispersed camping is not allowed. **There is NO car or RV camping
at Point Reyes National Seashore**  
  
Amenities at the hike-in/bike-in sites include picnic tables, and food storage
lockers with centrally located vault toilets and drinking water. No pets
permitted.  
  
**COAST CAMP** \- Coast Camp is nestled within a small coastal grassy valley
with easy access to the beach and tide pools. The beach is within 200 meters
(200 yards) of the campground. The shortest approach to Coast Camp is via the
3 km (2 miles) slightly uphill hike on the Laguna and Firelane Trails starting
at the Laguna Trailhead just past the hostel. An alternate route following the
Coast Trail starting near the hostel offers an easy, flat 4 km (3 miles) route
and is open to bicycles. Twelve reservable sites for up to 6 people each and
two reservable group sites for up to 25 people each are available. Sites 1 - 7
are in a small semi-protected canyon.  

**GLEN CAMP** \- Glen Camp is a quiet and secluded camp deep within a wooded
valley protected from ocean breezes. The shortest hike to this camp is a
moderate 7 km (5 miles) hike along the Bear Valley and Glen Trails. To access
Glen Camp by bicycle, start at the Five Brooks Trailhead, follow the Stewart
Trail to the Glen Trail, then north to the Glen Camp Loop, and finish by
descending to Glen Camp. This is a strenuous 10 km (6 mile) bike ride. No
groups, horses, or pack animals are allowed at Glen Camp. Twelve reservable
sites for up to 6 people each are available.

  
**SKY CAMP** \- Sky Camp is located on the western side of Mt. Wittenberg at
an elevation of 310 meters (1025 feet). In clear weather, enjoy sweeping views
of Point Reyes, Drakes Bay, and the Pacific Ocean. The easiest and shortest
approach is a 2 km (2 miles) moderate uphill hike or bicycle ride from the Sky
Trailhead (elevation 250 meters (840 feet)) on Limantour Road. It is a steep 6
km (4 miles) one-way hike down to the beach. Eleven reservable sites for up to
6 people each and one reservable group site for up to 25 people each are
available.

  
**WILDCAT CAMP** \- Wildcat Camp is located in an open meadow on a bluff
overlooking the ocean with a short walk to the beach and a 3 km (2.0 miles)
round-trip walk to Alamere Falls. It is a 10 km (6 mile) hike from Bear Valley
or a 9 km (6 miles) hike on the Coast Trail from Palomarin with access to Bass
Lake. The only bicycle route is via a strenuous 11 km (7 miles) ride along the
Stewart Trail from the Five Brooks Trailhead. Two reservable site for up to 6
people, three reservable sites for up to 4 people, and three reservable group
sites for up to 25 people each are available.  

**Boat-in Campground:**  
  
**TOMALES BAY -** Tomales Bay boat-in camping is allowed on west-side National
Park beaches north of Tomales Bay State Park's Indian Beach. These beaches are
tidally influenced and generally are small sandy coves backed against steep
cliffs. Campers on Tomales Bay beaches must arrive by boat only and may not
hike, bike, or ride horses to the beaches. **Beaches are not assigned; campers
choose available beaches on a first-come, first-served basis** after
launching. Overnight parking for boat-in campers is available at the Tomales
Bay Resort and at the Miller Boat Launch and is othewise prohibited within
Point Reyes National Seashore and Tomales Bay State Park. The beaches are
primitive and without facilities with the exception of vault toilets at
Marshall and Tomales Beaches and two picnic tables at Tomales Beach. Unless
using the vault toilets at Marshall and Tomales Beaches, boat-in campers must
bring portable toilets to remove human waste. In addition, all trash must be
removed. Boat-in campers must their own bring water, racoon-proof food
storage, and firewood. Permanent and seasonal closures exist on some beaches.

## Overview

Hawk Campground is located above Tennessee Valley and offers sweeping views of
the Marin Headlands. The site is a 2.5 mile uphill hike from the Tennessee
Valley Trailhead parking lot, or a 3.5 mile uphill hike from Miwok Trailhead
in the Marin Headlands. Car or RV camping is not allowed. This campground is
recommended for experienced backpackers. The hike may be steep, but the views
are more than worth it!!

often populated by hikers regardless of time-of-year. Consider hiking to
Tennessee Beach (4 miles), the Marine Mammal Center (4 miles), Rodeo Beach

Headlands Rangers at (415)-331-1540 to inquire about a ranger-led program or
guided hike during your stay.

the landscape with campers. The geology that underlies the Marin Headlands and

near and far. There are multiple black sand beaches within hiking distance of
the campground.

bring clothing that can be layered. Lightweight summer clothes are rarely
comfortable to wear at Hawk Campground.

## Overview

Kirby Cove is located just north of the Golden Gate Bridge at historic Battery
Kirby. Visitors are awarded breathtaking views of San Francisco, its famous
Golden Gate Bridge, and the rugged Pacific Coast of northern California.
Please note: The parking area for the campground is a short walk from the
campsites, so RV or car camping is not allowed at Kirby Cove Campground.

## Recreation

Hiking, picnicking and taking in the beautiful views from Kirby Cove are among
the park's most popular activities.  
Visitors also enjoy exploring Battery Kirby, a historic army battery in use
from 1898-1934. The Point Bonita Lighthouse and Nike Missile Site SF-88 are
also close to the campsite.

## Facilities

Kirby Cove offers five overnight camp sites and one day-use picnic site, all
reached via driving on a steep access road. **Vehicle parking is separate from
the individual campsites - please be prepared for up to a 200 yard walk from
the parking area to your campsite.** There is no water available at this
campground - campers must bring any water necessary for drinking, cooking,
etc. The day-use site is available as an accessible picnic site for persons
with a disability or otherwise limited physical mobility. Sites 2 and 5 are
available as accessible campsites for persons with a disability or otherwise
limited physical mobility. Access to the first Kirby Cove gate is available to
all campers. Access to the second gate is **only for persons with a disability
or otherwise limited physical mobility**. Contact the Marin Headlands Rangers
at least **48 hours in advance** by **emailing your name, phone number, date
of visit, and photo of your ADA vehicle placard to
goga_marinheadlands_info@nps.gov** to receive the second gate codes.

Spencer on Conzelman Road. The path descends through a stately grove of
Monterey, cypress, pine and Blue Gum eucalyptus. Coastal sage and colorful

Marin Islands National Wildlife Refuge

In response to rapidly disappearing wetlands and its prime location within the
Pacific Flyway, the refuge was created in 1974 to protect migratory birds,
wetland habitat, and endangered species. The refuge and San Pablo Bay supports
the largest wintering population of canvasbacks on the west coast of the
United States and protects the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse and
California Ridgway's rail.

The San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge lies along the north shore of San
Pablo Bay in Sonoma, Solano, and Napa Counties in northern California. The
refuge includes open bay/tidal marsh, mud flats, and seasonal and managed
wetland habitats.

The Napa-Sonoma marshes in San Pablo Bay have been greatly impacted by human
activities such as hydraulic mining, salt production, water diversions, and
diking, draining, and filling for agricultural and industrial uses. About 85
percent of the historic tidal marshes of San Pablo Bay have been altered,
negatively affecting the ability of the remaining tidal marshes to accept
winter rainfall and purify water in the bay.

The refuge provides critical migratory and wintering habitat for shorebirds

Numerous other threatened, endangered, and sensitive species require tidal
marsh habitat for their survival, including 11 fish species that swim through
San Pablo Bay to reach their freshwater spawning grounds.

<p><span>In response to rapidly disappearing wetlands and its prime location within the Pacific Flyway, the refuge was created in 1974 to protect migratory birds, wetland habitat, and endangered species. The refuge and San Pablo Bay supports the largest wintering population of canvasbacks on the west coast of the United States and protects the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse and California Ridgway's rail.</span></p><p><span>The San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge lies along the north shore of San Pablo Bay in Sonoma, Solano, and Napa Counties in northern California. The refuge includes open bay/tidal marsh, mud flats, and seasonal and managed wetland habitats.</span></p><p><span>The Napa-Sonoma marshes in San Pablo Bay have been greatly impacted by human activities such as hydraulic mining, salt production, water diversions, and diking, draining, and filling for agricultural and industrial uses. About 85 percent of the historic tidal marshes of San Pablo Bay have been altered, negatively affecting the ability of the remaining tidal marshes to accept winter rainfall and purify water in the bay.</span></p><p><span>The refuge provides critical migratory and wintering habitat for shorebirds and waterfowl, particularly diving ducks, and provides year-round habitat for endangered, threatened, and sensitive species like the California clapper rail, salt marsh harvest mouse, California black rail, San Pablo song sparrow, and Suisun shrew.</span></p><p><span>Numerous other threatened, endangered, and sensitive species require tidal marsh habitat for their survival, including 11 fish species that swim through San Pablo Bay to reach their freshwater spawning grounds.</span></p>
