feet of water and provides valuable flood control as well as irrigation,

blacktail deer, upland game birds, songbirds, bald eagles, osprey and many
other species.

guided driving tour that includes 138 birding hotspots.

The campground has nearly 100 sites that each offer fire rings and picnic
tables, several of which are on the lake shore. Sites 1-92 are standard sites
within the main campground at Pine Meadows. Other amenities include flush
toilets, showers, a dump station, children's play area and a swim area. Sites
A - O are primitive sites with limited amenities on a loop adjacent to Pine

birds like the purple martin, the willow flycatcher, and the yellow-breasted
chat in the lake area. Osprey and purple martins nest in nearby structures.

**Cancelling/Changing a Reservation**

A $10.00 service fee will apply if you change or cancel your reservation. The
$10.00 service fee will be deducted from the refund amount. Depending on when
you cancel in relation to your arrival day, it may be considered a late
cancellation (see below).

**Late Cancellations**

**Individual Campsites:** A customer who cancels a reservation the day before
or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first

**Group Facility:** Customers who cancel a group overnight facility

Primitive Campground will **close at 2PM on Sundays** and **reopen Fridays in
the afternoon** for the 2026 summer recreation season. This is to ensure Park
Rangers can provide safe public access to the campground and
facilities.**Holidays:** Memorial Day weekend, Primitive Campground will be
open Friday, May 22 and will close at 2PM on Monday May 25. For Independence
Day weekend, Primitive Campground will open Thursday, July 2 and close at 2PM
on Sunday, July 5. For Labor Day weekend, Primitive Campground will open on
Friday September 4, and close for the season at 2 PM on Monday Sept 7.

This 14-mile, paved, multi-use National Recreation Trail follows the route of
the now-abandoned Oregon Pacific & Eastern Railroad line, along the scenic
shores of the Row (rhymes with "cow") River and Dorena Reservoir. There are
many trailheads and places to stop and enjoy views of Dorena Lake and the
surrounding farm country. Several quaint, covered bridges are located nearby,
as is the historic Bohemia Mining Area, which features remnants of late 1800s
gold mines. The trestle bridge at Harms Park is one of several locations
immortalized on the silver screen. Movies filmed along the railway include
_Stand By Me_ with River Phoenix, _Emperor of the North_ with Ernest Borgnine,
and, in 1926, _The General_ with Buster Keaton.

## Know Before You Go

  * No camping is allowed along the trail.
  * No food or water is available on the trail. Several general stores are located in Cottage Grove, Dorena (across Row River Road from the trail), and Culp Creek (0.25 mile east on Row River Road).
  * Parking and restroom facilities are located at 2- to 3-mile intervals along the trail.
  * This Day Use area is open daily from dawn to dusk.
  * Visitors should not enter old mine tunnels, which are both hazardous and located on private property.

## Point of Interest

The Mosby Creek Covered Bridge, located just off the trail, is a white bridge
built in 1920. Extensive restoration work was completed in 1990. Row Point
survives as a remnant of a native prairie community, featuring showy displays
of wildflowers during spring.

located downstream of the dam, offers overnight camping for families and

the lake. The lakeshore is managed for wildlife habitat as well, including
many species of birds and animals. Dorena Dam controls the Row River and
reduces flood stages downstream on the Willamette River.

On the western edge of the City of Eugene, visitors can view wildlife and
restored wetlands while they walk trails, play a round of disc golf, or ride
the Fern Ridge Bicycle Path through the wetlands.  
  
**Tsanchiifin Walk** —The 0.5 mile Tsanchiifin Walk trail is named after a
local band of Kalapuya Indians who lived in this area. From the west side of
Danebo Avenue the trail branches off to the north from the Fern Ridge Bike
Path.  
  
**Stewart Pond****/ Bertelsen Nature Park** —Stewart Pond is a seasonal
emergent wetland. It is home to many species of waterfowl. Geese and ducks are
numerous during the wet season. In the fall of 2015, the first 18 hole disc
golf course on BLM-managed lands in the entire nation was built!  
  
**Meadowlark Prairie** —The Meadowlark Prairie overlook is located on
Greenhill Road, between West 11th Avenue and Royal Avenue. The overlook has
picnic tables covered by a shelter, bathrooms and interpretive signs.
