Canyonlands National Park
Directions
Canyonlands National Park is cut into three land districts by the Green and Colorado rivers. Island in the Sky, in the north of the park, is about 40 minutes from Moab, UT via UT 313. The Needles district is in the southeast corner of Canyonlands, about 90 minutes from Moab or an hour from Monticello, UT via UT 211. The Maze district, in the west of the park, is the most remote and challenging; its ranger station is down 46 miles of dirt road from UT 24. All roads in The Maze require high-clearance 4WD.

Over 100 and I had the place to myself. Cloudy at night so no astrophotography. Nice and shady in the campsite. Been here before and I really like it b

We loved the campsites! Spacious and backed up to rock overhangs. However, it was very hot during our stay (107) and sleeping was difficult with no electric hookups.
One thing we were unaware of is the inability to travel within the park from the Needles District to Island in the Sky. To travel from one part of the park to the other required driving through Moab (1.5 - 2 hours).

Campground B is great and has some shaded spots. There are porta-potties but also bathrooms with flushing toilets and sinks. Great hikes right off the campground as well. Be aware that from the Needles District, Moab is a 90 min drive one way. There is a great outpost for food and snacks, but that is your only option.
Popularity: Busy
Busiest in August, when about 74% of guest capacity is reserved. Based on 11 years of reservations.
