and includes historic towns and other sites along its route. Desert and
forested federal public land abound closeby for a semi-primitive or primitive

Macks Creek Campground is a very popular small campground just 25 miles from
the Boise area along Arrowrock road off Highway 21 operated and managed by the
US Army Corps of Engineers. The campground is reservation only May-September
and closed to vehicle traffic the remainder of the year. Visitors make the
trip to enjoy quality seasonal recreational activities like boating, swimming,
camping, fishing, and hunting. Regular seasonal drawdowns occur each year
which impact the recreational activities available at Lucky Peak Lake. Verizon
LTE is now available at the Camp Host site to make online reservations.

The lake offers family-friendly outdoor recreation opportunities for both
travelers and residents of the urban Boise area. Macks Creek Park offers
scenic views and convenient access to lake recreation.  
  
Anglers fish for rainbow trout, Kokanee and smallmouth bass. A boat ramp is
located within the campground.

## Facilities

This primitive, small park offers a handful of campsites on the shore of Lucky
Peak Lake. Clean vault restrooms, hand-pumped drinking water, and an emergency
telephone are provided. Verizon cellular is available at the Host Site. During
the reservation season, a volunteer Camp Host lives on-site and can provide
information and assistance to park users. The Park Host does have scheduled
days off and may not always be available during your stay. Parking
availability is limited. Two businesses within 10 miles offer limited basic
food and services.

Lucky Peak Lake is located in the foothills of southwestern Idaho on the Boise
River at an elevation of 3,055 feet. When full, the lake stretches 12 miles
up-river, with 45 miles of shoreline and over 3,000 surface acres of water.  
  
The campground tent sites are situated among shady trees along the lakeshore.
The trailer spots are situated on the opposite side of the road from the tent
sites with a wide open clear view of the lake and surrounding mountains. The
surrounding mountains are consistent with sagebrush steppe, dotted with
sagebrush and bitterbrush.  
  
A variety of wildlife lives around Lucky Peak, including bald and golden
eagles, mule deer, antelope, red-tailed hawks, California quail and chukar.

Arrowrock Reservoir is formed by Arrowrock Dam which is part of the Boise
Project. The Reservoir is managed by the Boise National Forest, (Boise
National Forest map). This 18 mile narrow canyon reservoir of 3,150-acres has
limited access to 60 miles of shoreline. Boating, canoeing, windsurfing, and
fishing are the major recreation activities at Arrowrock, located east of
Boise. The reservoir is only 30 minutes from Boise and provides access to the
city's nearest national forest. Fish species include rainbow trout, kokanee,
yellow perch, whitefish, and the protected bull trout. Season open year-round.
Reservoir acre feet and total reservoir capacity and cubic feet/second release
rates for rivers below Boise & Payette River Basins reservoirs and select
river locations are updated daily and graphically provided. Site offers: vault
toilets, boat ramps and dock, parking, and dispersed camping.
