​Jeffers Brook Shelter is an 'Adirondack' style shelter that is located just
off Town Line Trail (Appalachain Trail) via a side trail 1.1 miles north of NH
RT 25 in the village of Glencliff. It can be also accessed via Long Pond Road
(North South Road) by going 0.2 miles south on Town Line Trail from where it
crosses the road. Jeffer's Brook nearby is the water source and a composting
outhouse is provided.

separate side paths off the loop trail. Marginal water is nearby.

Ridge which extends east from Mount Moosilauke. The shelter is 1.5 miles from
NH Rte 112 in Kinsman Notch just off the steep Beaver Brook Trail (Appalachian
Trail). The shelter accommodates approximately 8 people and provides a
sweeping view of the White Mountains to the north. The campsites also includes
2 platforms (total capacity of 9), and a composting privy. A side trail leads
to a small stream which may not be reliable.

​The Velvet Rocks Shelter is located on the Velvet Rocks Trail 1.2 miles from
the official western terminus of the trail near NH Rte 120 and Chase Field
House in Hanover. A privy is located nearby. Water is accessed along the loop
trail but may be unreliable in dry months.

## Overview

There are 26 non-reservable wooded sites with gravel pads, fire rings, and
picnic tables. A self-service pay system collects the fees on a first come,
first serve basis.

TIPS:

* Allow no more than 8 people and 2 vehicles per site and keep all equipment (including tents, tables and motor vehicles) on the graveled area. This will minimize compaction, allow low vegetation to grow, and enhance privacy between sites.

* Build all fires in the ring provided. “Only YOU can prevent forest fires,” says Smoky Bear. This will eliminate unsightly charcoal spots that soil camping equipment and clothing.

* Observe quiet hours between 10 PM and 7 AM. Turn off audio devices during these times and play them at a reasonable volume at all other times. See the bulletin board for the rules about operating generators.

* Gather only dead and down firewood. 

## Recreation

The picnic area is directly across from the campground, with it’s own water,
waste containers, and restroom facilities. The Civilian Conservation Corps
(CCC) built the picnic pavilion. A riverside setting offers one of the most
beautiful views of Mt. Moosilauke.

Vault toilets are handicap accessible and equipped with cold water faucets.
Refuse dumpster’s are provided; campers are encouraged to pack out their
recyclables. There are no hookups, dump stations, showers or group camping
sites available.

## Natural Features

Moose are commonly seen along the banks of the Wild Ammonoosuc River. This
river was the scene of major log drives in the 1900’s.
