Overview
Pickensville Campground is located just west of Pickensville, Alabama, on Aliceville Lake on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway.This campground boasts both a campground and day use area with many activities and amenities for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors enjoy hunting, fishing, picnicking, water sports and watching the barges go by on the waterway.
Recreation
Families can swim at Pickensville's beach, play on the multi-use court, walk along the wooded waterfront and learn about the natural and cultural history of the area at the amphitheater.Anglers can try their luck on the accessible fishing dock or go off-shore in search of bass, walleye, crappie, catfish and sunfish.
Additionally, hunters can seek out a diverse range of high quality habitats for upland game and waterfowl species along the lands surrounding the waterway.
Facilities
This facility offers 176 campsites that provide picnic tables, campfire rings with grills, electric and water hookups and plenty of shade. Some sites also provide sewer hookups for RV campers. There are accessible sites and restrooms.Anglers can take advantage of an accessible fishing dock, boat ramp and fish cleaning station at the day use area just across the waterway from the campground. The day use facility also provides a swim beach, playground and picnic shelters.
Natural Features
The Tenn-Tom, as the waterway is known, extends 234 miles from the Tennessee River to the junction of the Tombigbee River in Alabama. The man-made waterway connects the nation's midsection of commercial water transportation with the Gulf of Mexico.Nearby Attractions
In Pickensville, Alabama, visitors can learn the history of the waterway at the Tom Bevill Visitor Center which depicts an 1830-1850 era antebellum-style home, as well as explore the U.S. Snagboat Montgomery, a National Historical Landmark.Camp site features

Directions
From Tuscaloosa, Alabama, take Highway 82 west to the junction with Highway
86. Turn left on 86 west to Pickensville. The entrance road to the campground
is 2.5 miles from the yellow caution light.

We love coming here , but the place really needs some updating, bathrooms could use some love and the grounds really need some work…our space 106 was right there on the water but the fire ring had not been cleaned out in awhile and the grill had someone’s left over food.. ants where a menace too.. we had very little cell service, but not there fault..

We were on Site 121 by the water!
The sites are always clean which is a great PLUS! it is a great place to walk and ride bikes! Most sites are very shady.
The lady at the front was so nice and helpful! I wish I could remember her name to put on this review. She handles the gate, among other duties!
We have camped there several times in the last few years at different sites close to the water and never had an issue!
But...there are just not enough sites with sewer hookups! We always try to get a site on the water with that amenity and did get lucky and was able to reserve soon enough and got site 121. (which does have sewer!)

We loved loved loved our stay. Clean, quiet and relaxing. Everyone was respectful. We had no cell service at all so keep that in mind when booking. Our phones were on SOS only for the entire stay. That is no fault of the campground. It’s the first time Verizon has ever let me down. It was a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The campground is fantastic. Quite a few sites are large enough to fit my 35' Flagstaff trailer. Very clean, including the bathhouse. Employees were helpful and friendly. Will come back again.

Love the dunes and the beaches it is a beautiful place, they are remodeling the bad rooms, but overall we where very pleased.

This is the best Campground for bicycle riding. This is a very friendly place. We have stayed here many times & we drive for three hours to stay there. Our favorite Campground.

Pad was level and site was quite large. Nice shade. A lot of paths to walk and it was very quiet while we were there. Facilities were very clean and hosts were friendly. There are several FHU sites. There is no town close by but off course, there is a DG not too far away. Luckily the weather was perfect during this trip so we could enjoy the outdoors because TV stains are very limited and reception is spotty. There is not a nearby option for firewood.

Our family has many wonderful memories of past camping stays at this campground. So many campers all friends though strangers; happy children playing hours together on playground equipment; laundry facilities; bagged ice for sale; nearby summer swim area; and now, there's only one unkempt play area in the entire campground! No laundry room. A sad rusting unit where bags of ice once was stored. Bath houses showing their age due to no upkeep or improvements. Upon check in, nobody to greet you, or drive by to chat. At least we have pictures and warm memories of what once was.

Tent camped along the waterway in this massive park. It wasn’t crowded at all. Every lot had shade; lots away from water we’re the shadiest though they might be more buggy because of standing pools of water with trees growing in them and much algae. Camp hosts were helpful. Bathrooms clean…could use better mirrors and a hook or two or even a bench in sink area. Water pressure was beyond phenomenal. I think Kramer put in the shower head! Best ever! Almost painful! Trash can is distant on way out of park and requires stair climbing oddly. Weather in mid April was perfect for tent camping. One other tent on grounds but mostly RVs…appeared to be all from Alabama.

We had a great time. The only problem was that the water got cutoff with no warning. The Ranger said that they didn’t have any warning either. It stayed off all day but came on in time to get a shower.
The ranger were cleaning up underbrush which was badly needed. It looks great. Thank you.

We enjoyed this park due to the boardwalk and being on the river to watch the barges - sites 126 and those below 123 seem to have sewer connection - 124 does not and has a big up heave in the concrete so if you are low don't get that one - shady spots along the river are 112 to 136 - We stayed in 124 and 135 while there - sunny spots would be 111 down.

Riverside sites are good, that is where we stayed 133 and 135. We rode to Brooksville MS and went to the Ole Country Bakery and then went to Southern Relics on south down the road.

Nice / beautiful location. Park was not well maintained. Over-grown grass and leaf debris everywhere. Dropped logs from trees in the green areas that looked like they had been there for years and the staff was simply mowing around them. RV Pads covered with what looked to be years of debris. Fire pits full of ash and obviously never cleaned. Not what we normally see at Army Corps of Engineers federal parks at all.

I've been trying to let you know we were suppose to leave Sunday but had to leave Friday. We should have 2 nights credit. I haven't been able to reach anyone because it keeps hanging up when I call. We did have a great time while we were there though. Please let us know about our credit. Thanks.

Park was pleasant and mostly clean. Camping pad didn’t have any gravel on it. Major issues with cell service and tv stations. Will need an extra antenna to pick up stations

We enjoyed our 2 week stay in site 73. We had plenty of space in our FU pull-thru site. Our site was not directly on the river, but across. We still enjoyed watching the barges pass from our site. The campground is in the middle of nowhere. It is about an hour drive to the bigger cities. Columbus, MS has a great Riverwalk trail we would highly recommend. Our stay was quiet and we enjoyed walking/running around the campground and trails.
