Overview

DeWayne Hayes Day Use is situated near DeWayne Hayes Campground on Columbus Lake along the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway. The area features two shelter that can be rented. The area typically is open the beginning of May through the end of November. DeWayne Hayes Day Use is great for family gatherings and fishing off the bank.

Recreation

The Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway offers many recreational opportunities such as hunting, fishing, boating, and swimming. Hunting opportunities can be found on Corps of Engineers land in Mississippi and Alabama, as well as other state managed wildlife management areas along the waterway. Fishing the many varieties of fish on the waterway is a yearlong event, with people fishing along the shoreline or joining in on the many tournaments that are held on the waterway throughout the year. Boating is a popular activity on the waterway and many people enjoy waterskiing, swimming, and other water related activities. Swimming can be enjoyed from your boat or at a designated beach along the waterway.

DeWayne Hayes Day Use runs along a part of the old riverbed on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway where great shoreline fishing can be done. A trail takes you through the day use where you can find oak, sweet gum, pine, and other species of trees along the way. Bald Eagles, Pelicans, and migratory birds can be seen flying over the area.
