The roads have been getting worse every year. They’re in terrible condition! Too many deep ruts and the way to site 7 is almost washed out. It’s very dangerous pulling an RV on that road and should be fixed!!!

This is one of my favorite campgrounds and we come every year over the 4th. We live just a couple miles away and I appreciate how on top of it they are with fire safety and police any firework activity.
This is truely an off grid experience. No water, vault toilets, roads and sites are dirt and it's SO dusty.
Would also be super helpful if there was a "Campground Full" sign at the entrance. Every year there are numerous people driving through the camp quickly looking for a site (dusty) only to find they are all booked. And this year in particular, we had squaters in two of the 3 sites our group reserved.

Excellent site. Camp host was amazing. We had two cars and a trailer with a Seadoo Jetski, 2 dogs and 3 adults. Camp site 27 was more than big enough for all our things and you have a private “beach” area to walk down to. We were able to anchor our seadoo at the campsite. It was steep, but worth it to have it close to not have to relaunch again and again at the boat ramp. Which is also very close to camp.
Boca is amazing you won’t regret going to this camp site or Lake! Don’t miss out on a great time.

The campground is fine, the campers are not. When I arrived I collected 35 beer cans that had been strewn across my site. The previous campers had also shoveled dirt into the fire ring to extinguish their fire - which meant I had no room to build my own. I camped at one of two sites at the end of a cul de sac. The campers in the other site invited their friends who were camping at two other sites in the campground to crowd into their site and the end of the cul de sac; four vehicles, 12 people, two dogs all on one site. Boca attracts such visitors.

Loud music, people and cars packed in to sites. Dogs wandering off leashes, Host did not post my reservation so I had to tell a very grumpy older woman she was in my reserved site. Never saw a host. Will not stay again.

Booked spots 4 & 5 for a group tent camping trip. Most of our friends bailed last minute. However, there is essentially no real separation between sites 4 & 5, so they make an excellent pair for a big group. We were able to sprinkle our tents throughout the sites and basically had a private area all to ourselves. There's a huge gap with trees between site 5 and 6, so even though someone had an RV in 6, it was quiet and private. There is steep access to the water behind the sites, so we brought our paddle boards and had a great time

A great site with an awesome view! The parking spot is within eyesight, however it is quite a walk to the bathroom and you do have to walk through other sites to make it to 22.

Nice site. Didn't like the traffic driving past our site. Disappointed in the freeway noise is such a beautiful area.
Lovely site. Right next to the water. I do recommend.

Honestly, not a great experience. The campground was extremely dusty — I don’t understand why they can’t add some grass or at least water it down. There was no water spigot at all, which is a big inconvenience for campers.
Accessing the lake was also frustrating. You have to carry your paddleboard or gear down a steep hill, which isn’t ideal.
Setting up our tent was a whole challenge. The ground was really hard and filled with tree roots and branches. We bent a couple of tent poles trying to get the stakes in — and we weren’t the only ones. A lot of people seemed to struggle with the same thing. Add strong winds on top of that, and it just wasn’t fun.
Overall, it felt like the campground was missing some basics. Wouldn’t return unless they made some improvements.

Great location for a quick trip from Reno. My dog had a blast swimming and chasing ball.
I wasn’t a big fan of our camp neighbors building a campfire when there were clear signs everywhere to not have fires. Not sure who was supposed to monitor those dangerous fires.

It was very quiet and clean. Beautiful scenery. The only negative was no water and I didn’t know so I had to go make another trip to get jugs of water.
Maybe I missed the notice on the app? Or it wasn't noted ?? We had a wonderful time

The site itself is beautiful, with a perfect view of Boca Reservoir. The dirt path down to the lake is a bit steep and slippery, but we went down it a couple times during our stay. The big problem was that we were situated right between two very noisy campsites this trip, and there was no camp host presence, nor any ranger presence until we saw one when we were leaving. One site had at least four vehicles and around 10, perhaps more, people, and it was not a group campsite. They fought a lot and stayed up into early hours of the morning partying. The other side also stayed up into the early hours of the morning, but added music to the symphony of noise. Needless to say, our visit was not peaceful, but the scenery is spectacular. Boca has been a long time favorite of ours.

Beautiful campground, large camp spots, close to the water. Just keep in mind there are no rv hook ups and no water. So bring enough water for your trip. If not truckee is not too far away.. you can always go into town to get some more. Can’t wait to go back again next year.

It turned chilly and rainy and we had the campground almost to ourselves on this later in the year trip. We really enjoyed that and the view of the lake from this site is exceptional. However, I precariously slid my way down a steep incline to the lake but almost couldn’t make it back up, so access to the water from this site is almost nil unless you’re a mountain goat.

No water is available. However, fees are the same as campsites that provide water.
Very dusty and sites are alongs the unpaved access roads. Traffic passing by frequently leave campsites and equipment in a fog of fine dust.
Numerous campers running very large and loud generators at all hours of the day and night.

We love the CG and views! We do not like the dirt and dust - if RecGov could just gravel the main driveway on lower loop it would be ideal! We also didn’t like that the camp host wanted to see our drivers licenses and then put on a piece of paper for potential identity theft. Thank you

Gerry the manager @ this campsite is a very warm host. He will try to work things out if there is a conflict. The campsites are nice also. There is no water, but that is not an issue. There are plenty of places to get to the water area for recreation. Boca Recreation Area will always be on my list of places to check out!

The spot had stunning views of the reservoir and a large level spot for camping materials! The bear box was bigger than expected and the camp host was very sweet. It’s a little hard to get to bathrooms without walking through the adjacent spot (if it is also booked), but absolutely possible.

This is a very nice campground with a wonderful host. The only trouble is its close proximity to a gun shooting range. The sound of gunshots at the crack of dawn is unsettling and I bet if you could ask the bald eagles, they would agree.

This camp is a beautiful setting with NO WATER! The $$ value is less than expected. If you drive down the road there’s a general store. You can draw water there for $10.00.
I had 27 people in different camp sites which were spacious.

Very clean and beautiful spot. People catching fish by the dam. People having fun on boats and jet skis ! Free public gun range on the lake !! This one by far is my favorite campsite. Deer and wildlife everywhere. If you’re fishing I advise going as early as possible especially if you’re trolling. By 10-11a there’s A LOT of people out on boats, jet skis, kayaks, paddle boards. Overall WILL BE BACk 10/10 !!!

We were at #19. It is so uneven. Many of the sites are. Why can’t some work be done here to even out the spots where tents and picnic tables are located. couldnt even walk around the site without having to keep our balance. Not good. Also Stampede is paved. Feels cleaner. Boca is so much smaller. Why can’t it be paved. Get some filthy at Boca.
That said the host was great and very helpful.

This campground is beautiful with campsites that have an easy access to the water. The restrooms are impressively well maintained. The only thing I wish it had was a water source to make it a lot easier to wash hands and some dishes instead of hauling our own water.

#17 is HOT, no shade. The path to the water is mean, steep ,soft dirt with rocks that slide, hiking boots not flip flops. #16, 17, 18 share the water, "beach" is small, water was refreshing Boca water. Dog friendly! 17 and 18 are not spaced as the map shows, they are exactlytogether, draw a line in the dirt and claim your side. The host was very nice and the bathrooms had toilet paper. I would not camp on 17 again. We moved to 19 and that was much more enjoyable with lots of shade and easier trail to water.

There was an incident where people did not want to share the only cove my family and I had access to. Drove there boat into the cove where my children where swimming and eventually when the Rangers got involved and asked them to make room they did not. Entitled persons calling me a Karen cause i got others 'authorities' invloved. I left the grounds a night early, it was an awful experience the Host was VERY VERY nice and apologized for the other campers behavior.
