The Forest Service operates the WakaLu Hep Yo Campground and charges the following fees: $35 per night in 2026. The America the Beautiful Interagency Senior and Access Passes are honored and receive 50% off the nightly rate. Only applicable to the single site the pass holder occupies. The Interagency Annual and Volunteer passes do not provide any discounts on camping.
Directions
Take Highway 4 to Dorrington; turn onto Boards Crossing Road and continue five miles northeast to the campground. The campground entrance is on the left before the Stanislaus River bridge.
Stay Limit
Check in from 2 PM, check out by 12 PM.

Very beautiful and comfortable, but the restrooms and showers are closed. No water is available either.

No water and never received a notification that it was out. We were unprepared with young kids and had to leave after the first night to go somewhere else

Love this campground. Been coming here for years. Just learned they take reservations for a few sites. Had a reservation and arrived on first day to find the water system is out of service. There are no alternative water options in the area. The website says there is accessible drinking water, showers, water spigots.
