Clark Fork Horse Camp is located past the dump station at Clark Fork
Campground, five miles from the junction of Clark Fork Road and Highway 108.
It is about 25 miles east of the Summit Ranger Station. There are 13 sites
available. Some sites have picnic tables.  There are three vault toilets and
no potable drinking water. There is a watering trough for stock.  Road and
parking pads are dirt. Campers are asked to use existing fire rings.  Please
camp in numbered sites.

Valley Unit operates Clark Fork Horse Camp and suggests a donation to cover
the cost of maintaining the campground.

Clark Fork Horse Camp

Clark Fork Campground is situated along the banks of the Clark Fork of the
Stanislaus River, five miles from the junction of Clark Fork Road and Highway
108. It is about 25 miles east of the Summit Ranger Station.

There are two loops in the campground: A-Loop and B-Loop. Both loops have
paved roads and parking pads. A-Loop has 28 sites with a table and a campfire
ring at each site. Three of the sites are double sites. The restrooms are
vault toilets. Water is available at hydrants serving several sites. A-loop is
the first to open and last to close during the camping season. B-Loop has 60
sites, six are double sites. There are flush toilets in B-Loop. Three sites
near the first restroom are fully accessible. There is no fee for parking
extra cars in the campground.

An RV dump station is located near the entrance road to Clark Fork Campground;
the fee for the dump station is $6.

Sand Flat Campground (4wd only)

Sand Flat Campground is located six miles from the junction of Clark Fork Road
and Highway 108. It is about 25 miles east of the Summit Ranger Station. There
are 53 drive-in sites available and 15 walk-in sites, a total of 68. Each site
has a table and a fire ring. Restrooms are vault toilets (some newer units are
fully accessible) Four well supply potable water by hand pumps. There is a fee
for parking extra cars.

An RV dump station is located on the entrance road to Clark Fork Campground.
Campers staying at Clark Fork or Sand Flat Campgrounds may use the dump
station for a $6 dump fee.

parking area is dirt-surfaced. Restrooms are vault toilets. Potable water is
not available. A fee is charged for extra vehicle parking.

are dirt-surfaced. Each site has a table and a fire ring. Hydrants serve
several sites as a water source. Toilets are vault-style. Fee charged for
extra vehicle parking.

parking pads. Restrooms are vault toilets. Water is piped; each hydrant serves
several sites. A fee is charged for extra vehicle parking. There is no
designated trail down to the river.

Dodge Ridge Corporation operates Boulder Flat Campground and charges the
following fees: Cash only.

  * $25.00 for a single-family site
  * $50.00 for a double-family site

The Interagency Senior and Interagency Access Passes are honored and provide a
50 percent discount on camping fees in the campground.  Pass number must be
written on fee envelope or Pass must be shown to Host. The Interagency Annual
and Volunteer passes do not provide any discounts on camping. Dodge Ridge
Corporation operates this campground under a special use permit administered
by the Forest Service. The fees paid by concessionaires finance the
refurbishment of facilities in the campgrounds they operate.

Boulder Flat Campground

Deadman Campground is situated along the banks of the Stanislaus River, one
mile from Highway 108 on the Kennedy Meadow Road. It is about 29 miles east of
the Summit Ranger Station. There are a total of 17 camping sites; two walk-in
sites. The main road is paved and parking pads are dirt-surfaced. Restrooms
are vault toilets. Water is piped to hydrants serving multiple sites. A fee is
charged for extra vehicle parking.

Deadman Campground

Highland Lakes Campground is set in conifer forest adjacent to a meadow at the
north end of the second (lower) lake. There are two separate camping areas, a
large one along Highland Lakes Road and a smaller one on a hill above the

There are two separate camping areas, a large one along Highland Lakes Road&nbsp;and a smaller one on a hill above the lake. The Forest Service operates the Highland Lakes Campground and charges the
following fees: New campsite fee prices, 2024 & 2025 $25 per night and fee
raises to $30 per night in 2026.   The America the Beautiful, Interagency
Senior and Access Passes are honored and receive 50% off the nightly rate.
Only applicable to the single site the pass holder occupies.  Pass number must
be written on fee envelope. The Interagency Annual and Volunteer passes do not
provide any discounts on camping.

approximately 3 miles to the campground. There are 10 sites; each site has a
table and a fire ring. The main road and parking pads are dirt-surfaced.

Toilets are vault-style. Fee charged for extra vehicle parking.

Mosquito Lakes Campground

Union Reservoir is set in a granite basin with expansive mountain views. The
reservoir has lots of small islands and is kept mostly full. The campground is
adjacent to the reservoir, nestled in red fir and lodgepole pine forest.
