Grove Road, Buck Meadow Campground lies on a large flat sandy area adjacent to

large flat area on the river’s edge of the scenic Kings River and is
surrounded by rolling, oak-covered foothills and spectacular river canyon and
mountain views of the Sierra Nevada. Though it can be very hot in the summer
months, Kirch Flat Group Campground is a great place to camp during the spring
and fall months and is popular with San Joaquin Valley residents, fisherman,
day users, and whitewater enthusiasts who come to enjoy many challenging
rapids and beautiful canyon scenery of the King’s River.

A good amount of shade is provided by oak and pine trees throughout the area;
however, there is no running water or cell service at the campground. Campers
are encouraged to bring their own garbage bags, always keep a clean campsite,
and keep trash and food packed up so wildlife is not tempted.

The nearest services are in Sanger, a decently sized town about 45 miles (1
hour 20 min.) away, with all essential services (i.e., gas, supplies,
groceries, restaurants, etc.). Although there is no cell phone coverage at the
campground, there is a location with cell phone reception approximately 10
minutes away or the nearest pay phone is at Balch Camp, a PG & E community
about a 10-minute drive.

The Kings River offers an enjoyable ten-mile rafting run with Class III and IV
rapids. Rafting season is usually from late April to mid-July depending on
river runoff. No permit is required to raft the river. The Kings River is a 1
1/2 hour drive east of Fresno towards Pine Flat Reservoir via the Trimmer
Springs Road. Put ins are available at Winfrey Mine and Garnet Dike up river
from Kirch Flat Group Campground.

There are several commercial outfitters that are permitted with the Sierra
National Forest, for commercial trips on the Kings River. Please contact the
High Sierra Ranger District for more information.

A short walk from the Group Campground puts you on the edge of the Kings
River, cooling off from the heat or working the water's edge fishing are
popular activities. Please always use caution as the rivers current can be
stronger than realized.

There are several hikes available in the area, including hiking up the Kings
River to the wild and scenic portion of the river. To get the trail head,
continue driving upriver from the campground past Garnet Dike put in, shortly
after the vault toilet there the road ends at the trailhead.

sites, the river is designated by congress as wild and scenic. At the
campground, the river is just about to enter Pine Flat reservoir, however

The Sierra Nevada foothills are incredibly beautiful in the spring as the
grasses green up and the native orange California poppies paint the hill
sides, along with other wildflowers.

on the east shore of Courtright Reservoir off of the Dusy-Ershim trail. Large

trees, streams and open space, make it a scenic destination for all types of

## Recreation

Dinkey Creek has 2 swimming areas: The Slicks and Honeymoon Pool, both of
which contain pools carved out of granite. Anglers can fish Dinkey Creek for
brown and rainbow trout.  
  
Hikers can walk the Dinkey Creek Trail. Mountain bikers also have trail access
in this area.

## Facilities

There is a group site that can accommodate up to 50 people. The rest are a mix
of standard or tent-only single sites.  
  
An on-site amphitheater offers educational programs on summer weekends. There
is a picnic site located on large sandy flat above the creek at the north end
of the campground.

Throughout the summer, California Land Management sponsors a variety of interpretive programs on weekends at the amphitheatre. Presentations by knowledgeable local experts cover topics on the history, constellations, wildflowers, forestry and others. Dinkey Creek Group Campground

Summit camping area is a great place for those who enjoy rustic camping.
Toilets, water, and garbage service are not provided at this site.  The site
contains one picnic table and rock fire ring.

Summit Camping Area

Located in a setting of pines and oak, Bretz Mill Campground is located
alongside Big Creek. Some sites are located on the creek. The location of the
campground makes an great get-a-way for picnicking, cooling off during hot
days and overnight camping, especially when higher elevation campgrounds are
under snow.  The area also serves as a popular OHV base camp. Access to
facility is paved.

Campground is maintained by Mountain Toppers 4 WD club.

Shaver Lake. Paved and dirt roads provide access to the campground. There is a
vault toilet and each site has a table, fire ring and grill. A Campground Host
is also on site. Visitors can experience a wide variety of recreational
activities such as fishing, boating, and hiking at nearby Shaver Lake.

Swanson Campground

## Overview

Dorabelle Campground is a popular family camping destination above Shaver
Lake. Some sites are shaded by a thick stand of fir, cedar and pine trees,
while other sites are more open.  
  
This camp is a great base for experiencing the wide variety of recreational
activities in the area. Boats can be moored nearby and some sites offer views
of the lake.

## Recreation

Hikers can access 5 trails from the campground: Dinkey Road (.5 miles), Musick
Meadow (.75 miles), Peninsula Loop (1 mile), Burr Meadow (1.5 miles) and
Osprey Cove (2 miles). Horseback riding is also offered nearby.  
  
Popular activities at Shaver Lake include swimming, motorized boating,
canoeing, kayaking, water skiing, jet skiing, windsurfing, sailing and
fishing. Anglers can fish for kokanee salmon, rainbow trout, brown trout,
smallmouth bass, catfish and bluegill.

## Facilities

Each site has a dirt parking spur, table, fire ring, and grill. Drinking water
and vault toilets are provided.

the High Sierra Ranger District. It sits at an elevation of 5,500 feet and is
known for its variety of fish.  
  
The Sierra National Forest, located on the western slope of the central Sierra
Nevada, is known for its spectacular mountain scenery and abundant natural
resources.  
  
The terrain includes rolling, oak-covered foothills, heavily forested middle
elevation slopes and the starkly beautiful alpine landscape of the High
Sierra.

Late Cancellations or Cancellations within the Cut-off Window

Individual Campsites: A customer who cancels a reservation the day before or
on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first
night's use fee (not to exceed the total paid for the original reservation).
Cancellations for a one-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid
and will not be subject to an additional service fee.

Cabins / Lookouts: Customers who cancel a cabin or lookout reservation less
than 14 days before the arrival date will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit
the first night's use fee.

Group Facility (including Cabins and Lookouts): Customers who cancel a group
overnight facility reservation less than 14 days before the arrival date will
pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee.

Group Day Use Area: Customers who cancel a group day-use facility reservation
less than 14 days before the arrival date will forfeit the total day-use fee.

Changes or Cancellations within the Cut-off Window: Once a reservation date
has begun, customers cannot change a reservation using the online system or
through the Call Center (see below for early departures). If the location is
staffed, on-site personnel may or may not be able to assist with changes or
cancellations (check with local staff).

No-Shows

arrive at a campground and does not cancel the reservation by check-out time
on the day after the scheduled arrival date (or for day-use facilities, by
