It's summertime, so outdoor climbing spots are too hot. Black Mountain bouldering is higher elevation, so decided to take the youth climbing team up here for some night climbing. Always recommend calling the ranger station for an update on the road. No campfires were allowed since it is fire season. We arrived around 3pm, set up camp, then bouldered from 4pm into the night. The rock was still warm, but the temps were decent. Definitely the way to go in the summer! Campsites were clean. Keep in mind only vault toilets and no water. Be sure to bring enough water for your trip. Such a fun trip! Great escape. Not super crowded. You're definitely isolated up in the mountains. Great views of the city below.

The campsite was well maintained and the restroom were clean-ish and plenty of toilet paper. The rangers picked up the trash from the trash cans daily.

Boulder basin Is a beautiful place, the road is better than it was, but still a bit rough. The short hike to the watchtower is a must do. Fire restrictions are almost always in place, and there is no water. If you go prepared, it's a great campground.

Site was quiet, picturesque, and surrounded by a ton of boulders to either climb or look at. The campsites toward the back of the campground are generally a bit more secluded but come with the risk of climbers being in your area for all hours of the day. Most people are amenable and will gladly give you space if you ask though! Overall, a great place to get away for the weekend

Nice spot with a decent amount of space between sites, stinky toilets though!
