Grizzly Creek campground is located near Bucks Lake in the northern Sierra

Hutchins Group Campground is the perfect location for groups who want to
explore the greater Bucks Lake area of the Plumas National Forest. This
campground was severely impacted by the Dixie Fire in 2021. Timber salvage
management has left the campground barren and hot so prepare by providing
adequate shade for your stay.  
  
American Land & Leisure are the concession operators working for PG&E; to
service the campgrounds, boat ramps and day use areas that are owned by the
USDA Forest Service.

## Recreation

The greater Bucks Lake area provides ample opportunities for fishing, boating,
and canoeing. The boat ramp at Shady Point provides a boat dock to launch
boats, showers, and day use picnicking. Hiking trails are only a short drive
away with trailheads located in the Mill Creek Campground, Mill Creek
Trailhead on the way to Bucks Summit, and at Bucks Summit where the PCT or
Bucks Creek Loop trail are located.

THIS CAMPGROUND CURRENTLY HAS NO WATER. Water is available at the nearby Sandy
Point Day Use Area and Haskins Campground.

The campground offers three large group campsites for tent and RV camping.
Each site has a limit of eight vehicles and 24 people.  
  
Multiple tables and campfire rings with grills are provided, as well as vault
toilets . A roving campground host is available intermittently to answer
questions and provide additional information.  
  
There are several boat ramps available around the perimeter of the 1,820-acre
lake, including the closest one to Hutchins, at Sandy Point. A convenience
store with gas, phone and propane is located within five miles of the
campground.

point to explore the greater Bucks Lake area. Hot days, followed by cooler
nights, provide the perfect atmosphere for camping. This campground would be a
great place for star gazers night owls who really appreciate a wide open sky

Wilderness borders the lake and the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail System

Staying at the Whitehorse campground provides access to several activites
located in the greater Bucks Lake area. Fishing, boating, and canoeing, as
well as hiking are all activities that can be achieved by staying in this
campground. There are walking trails to the lake. A hiking trail runs from the
campground and provides access to the Bucks Lake Wilderness and the Pacific
Crest Trail. Marinas and boat docks are also within a short drive as well as
restaurants at the Lakeside Resort and Bucks Lake Lodge which will re-open
under new management in the summer for 2025, weather permitting. Limited
supplies and a deli are located at the Haskins Valley Store just a short drive
away.

drive to Silver Lake. Sitting at just over 6,000 ft in elevation, the Silver
lake campground set up for solitude and tranquility. The sites are spread out
and isolated to provide for an optimal quiet experience to enhance the camping
experience. Easy access to hiking trails, high alpine lakes and OHV riding is
just a short distance from the campground.

## Recreation

High alpine lakes, granite boulders and blue bird skies are treats for those
who camp here. Access to hiking is located along the eastern side of Silver
Lake. Continue up and on to Bucks Summit on the PCT or climb the prominent
Spanish Peak where the ole look out once stood.

OHV routes also leave from the campground area but were severely impacted by
the Dixie Fire in 2021 and have not been maintained so be aware of hazard
trees and other debris that might slow down your route.

This campground features 6 improved dispersed campsites. Sites 1-3 are
intended for equestrian use providing plenty of space for horse trailers.
There is not a corral or water trough, so be prepared for limited equestrian

campground. Miles of roads are your fingertips and available for your riding
pleasure. Adhere to all OHV and vehicle use guidelines.

This campground has been improved and provides these convienences: a picnic
table, fire pit and vault toilet.

Please provide your own water and take your trash home, there are no trash
services available at this site.

A beautiful native grass meadow, mixed pine and red oak forest, and the slow
moving waters of the Meadow Valley Creek are the natural features that can be
located near this campground.

## Overview

Gansner Bar Campground is located on Highway 70 just east of the Highway 89
intersection; just east of where Spanish Creek and Indian Creek merge together
to create the east branch of the North Fork Feather River. The campground is
very popular. Although the campground has been recently upgraded, it still
holds the charm that it did in years past.

Anglers enjoy a healthy supply of rainbow trout in the nearby Feather River,
which is within walking distance from the campground. The river and nearby
Gansner Bar are also popular for swimming and wading activities.

## Facilities

Gansner Bar campground offers several single-family campsites that accommodate
both tent and RV camping, however hookups are not available.

Each site is equipped with tables and campfire rings with grills. Vault
toilets and drinking water are also provided. A full-service store, gas and
phone service is available less than 10 miles away.

Little Grass Valley Recreation Area offers opportunities for many recreation
experiences. Three boat launch ramps provide access to the water for fishing,
water-skiing, sailing, or simply touring on boats. There is a wheel chair
accessible fishing ramp at the dam. Two beaches provide excellent swimming and
picnicking opportunities - one of which is located adjacent to the Little
Beaver Campground. The Lakeshore Trail (13.5 miles) winds around the entire
lake and is open for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. Additional
hiking trails abound in the area and include the nearby Pacific Crest Trail.

meadows. The Maidu boat launch ramp is located nearby, adjacent to Little
Beaver Campground and the Maidu Amphitheater. Campsites are equipped with
tables and campfire rings with grills. Flush toilets and drinking water are
provided. Utility hookups are not available. All sites have paved parking
spurs. Bear-resistant trash collection bins are located throughout the

California at an elevation of about 5,100 feet. It is on the eastern shore of
the Little Grass Valley Reservoir, which was formed by dam construction and
subsequent flooding of the valley in the 1960s. The campground and the lake
are surrounded by thick stands of pine and fir trees. Several public
campgrounds are located around the lake, as well as private cabins on the
south side.

About 12 miles northeast of the lake at an elevation of 5,446 feet lies a
small, natural lily pond, called Fowler Lake. This beautiful site is perfect
for day hikes and picnics.

The 1,615-acre lake provides ample opportunities for visitors to fish, boat, swim, and water ski. Anglers can expect a catch of a variety of trout and kokanee salmon, among other species of fish. Fishing licenses are required.
  
The Lakeshore Trail, which loops 13.5 miles around the lake, is available for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. The trail connects to the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail, which stretches from 2,650 miles, across three states from Canada to Mexico. Spanish Creek Campground is located on Highway 70 just east of the Highway 89
intersection; just east of where Banish Creek and Indian Creek merge together
to create the east branch of the North Fork Feather River. The campground is
right on Spanish Creek with a very popular swimming hole. Although the
campground has been recently upgraded, it still holds the charm that it did in
years past.

## Recreation

Anglers enjoy a healthy supply of rainbow trout in the nearby Feather River,
which is within walking distance from the campground. The river and nearby
Spanish Creek are also popular for swimming and wading activities.

said that the mist created by the falls resembles a feather -- thus naming the
Feather River. Just southeast on Highway 70 from Spanish Creek Campground is
the quaint high Sierra town of Quincy. We recommend walking around the town if
you get a chance. Very close to the campground is the Butterfly Valley
Botanical Area. This is also a neat spot to explore. Before you get to the
town of Quincy you will pass the Mount Hough Ranger District - a wonderful
stop to discover more information about local area attractions.
