## Overview

A massive patch of blue in a sea of green - that's Lake Dorr, one of the
prettiest big lakes in the Ocala National Forest. Experience outdoor
recreation at either the Lake Dorr Recreation Area - campground or day use -
or by renting the cabin for your family or group. Along the northwest shore of
the lake, the recreation area is set under the deep shade of an oak hammock.
Offering RV camping, we also have a boat ramp and picnic area overlooking the

Lake Dorr Cabin is set along the south shore of beautiful Lake Dorr, ideal for
a family getaway. The cabin is open year-round and creates a great setting for
plenty of outdoor water fun. The rental includes a private boat ramp, canoes
and a fishing dock. It's located just over an hour from popular amusement
parks and other exciting attractions in Orlando.  
  
The cabin entrance and bathroom is accessible. A flat section on the property
fits two tents if guests wish to camp outside.

Boating, skiing, jet skiing, fishing and swimming are among the most popular
activities for guests. The abundance of largemouth bass, crappie and pan fish
entice anglers.  
  
A private boat ramp, fishing dock, picnic table, grill and three canoes with

Orlando to the south. Both trips take just over an hour and offer many
opportunities for entertainment.

There are only 21 sites at Hopkins Prairie. All are well-shaded in an oak
hammock on a peninsula surrounded by the prairie, where cool breezes blow in
when there is a little water in the prairie.

  * Depending on water levels in the prairie, you may be able to launch your canoe or jon boat to drift across the deeper spots in this vast ecosystem. Boat ramp available - $3 per vessel launch fee
  * Hopkins Prairie is a designated camping area with minimal facilities, open seasonally.
  * The vast expanse of Hopkins Prairie has ponds and shallows. Depending on water levels, it may be possible to fish from the bank or launch a canoe or jon boat to access the deeper areas.
  * With a year-round trailhead providing access to the Florida Trail, Hopkins Prairie is a popular destination for day hikers to wander off in either direction along the trail, or complete a section down to the Pat's Island Trailhead or Juniper Springs.
