Bonney Crossing Campground

## Overview

Rock Creek Campground sits on the shores of scenic Rock Creek Reservoir in the

Flag Point Lookout is situated on the eastern side of Mt. Hood and is
surrounded by the Badger Creek Wilderness, the lookout boasts a spectacular
panorama view of snow-covered treetops and rugged Cascade peaks. It provides
access to a variety of recreational opportunities, including fishing, hiking
and wildlife viewing, as well as winter sports. During summer driving
conditions the lookout can be accessed by driving, 4WD or AWD is highly
recommended. **During winter driving conditions, the lookout can only be
accessed by skiing, snowmobiling or snowshoeing either 10 or 17 miles** from a
parking area at Billybob Sno-park or Little John Sno-park. Winter driving
conditions can occur in early fall and persist late into the spring.

A Northwest Forest Pass is required for the parking area at Billy Bob Sno-
park, annual or day passes can be purchased in person at the Hood River Ranger
Station or online at https://www.discovernw.org/annual-northwest-forest-pass.
An ODOT Sno-park pass is required for parking at Little John Sno-park and can
be purchased at local vendors or online at

Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must

provides access to numerous cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling
trails. It is a shared winter recreation area and lookout guests should expect
other winter sports enthusiasts in the area.

The cabin is atop a 40-foot tower and is surrounded by a wooden catwalk. The
14-by-14 room is furnished with a small bed, a wood stove for heating and a
table and chairs. It has a propane cook stove and solar-powered lights. There
is no water on-site.

An outhouse with a vault toilet is located on the ground, as well as a shed
stocked with firewood. A rope and pulley system is available to transport
gear, as well as firewood, up and down the tower with ease.

Guests will need to bring their own water for drinking, cooking and cleaning
purposes, as well as their own sleeping bags/bedding, a flashlight or lantern
for emergencies, first aid kit, washcloths and towels, dish soap and garbage
bags. This is a "Pack it in, Pack it out" facility; guests will need to carry
out all trash and clean the facility prior to leaving.

This campground is popular due to its proximity to Fifteenmile Trail, which is
popular for hikers and bikers, as well as the Badger Creek Wilderness

Located on Forest Creek. Just follow Forest Road 4885 south about 2.5 miles to
the White River. To the east you can ride up to Boulder Point and get a look
around; to the west you reach the White River.

The campground itself is located on the historic Barlow Road (Forest Road
3530). Although many pioneers passed by this site, few actually camped here.
They did water their stock and themselves in the creek and possibly stopped
here briefly on the last leg of their long journey to the fertile valleys west
of the Cascades.

<p>Located on Forest Creek. Just follow Forest Road 4885 south about 2.5 miles to the White River. The lookout was originally a small cab on a 30-foot tower, established in the
1920s. In 1932, a standard lookout tower was built to replace the earlier
lookout, but was destroyed by heavy snow in 1942. A non-typical lookout
structure was rebuilt at the site in 1957.  
  
The tower sits on Fivemile Butte, at an elevation of 4,627 feet. It is
surrounded by ponderosa pine, Douglas fir and western hemlock forests.
Numerous creeks run through the area. A variety of wildlife, including wild
turkeys, grouse and blue jays, as well as deer, elk, coyotes, cougars and
bears, frequent the area.

The lookout is near Eightmile Creek and Eightmile Trail, which travels through and around a riparian area, old growth pine forests and meadows dotted with wildflowers.

The area is popular among winter sports enthusiasts as well, as the location provides access to numerous cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling trails. It is a shared winter recreation area and lookout guests should expect other winter sports enthusiasts in the area.<h2>Facilities</h2>
The cabin is atop a 40-foot tower and is surrounded by a wooden catwalk. The 14-by-14 room is furnished with a small bed, a wood stove for heating and a table and chairs. It has a propane cook stove and solar-powered lights. There is no water on-site. 
  
An outhouse with a vault toilet is located on the ground, as well as a shed stocked with firewood. A rope and pulley system is available to transport gear, as well as firewood, up and down the tower with ease.
  
Guests will need to bring their own water for drinking, cooking and cleaning purposes, as well as their own sleeping bags/bedding, a flashlight or lantern for emergencies, first aid kit, washcloths and towels, dish soap and garbage bags. This is a "Pack it in, Pack it out" facility; guests will need to carry out all trash and clean the facility prior to leaving.<h2>Natural Features</h2>
The lookout was originally a small cab on a 30-foot tower, established in the 1920s. In 1932, a standard lookout tower was built to replace the earlier lookout, but was destroyed by heavy snow in 1942. A non-typical lookout structure was rebuilt at the site in 1957.

The tower sits on Fivemile Butte, at an elevation of 4,627 feet. It is surrounded by ponderosa pine, Douglas fir and western hemlock forests. Numerous creeks run through the area. A variety of wildlife, including wild turkeys, grouse and blue jays, as well as deer, elk, coyotes, cougars and bears, frequent the area.

Nottingham Campground is a local secret, hidden right off highway 35,
centrally located with easy access to Mt. Hood and Hood River. The Hood River
runs next to the campground, with most of the sites having direct access to
the river. Natural landscapes are etched into this campground, making it one
of the most unique, enjoyable, quiet campgrounds there is.

This campground is centrally located, with easy access to the highway that
travels to Mt. Hood and back to Hood River. In this upper Hood River Valley
area, there are many resources for hiking, biking, fishing and exploring.
Whether you set up camp and explore the areas surrounding the campground, or
drive somewhere, the recreational access is limitless.

There are no water, electricity or sewer hookups. Pit toilets are available
for guests. Trash receptacles are placed all around the facility, making it
easy to keep clean. A camp host is available during peak season to answer
questions.

With the Upper Hood River running next to the campground, the nearby traffic
is drowned out, and a peaceful retreat is found. Several of the campsites are
right on the river, and the beautiful areas that the river has etched is fun
to explore.
