We stayed here over 4th of July weekend and really enjoyed it! The campground is very heavily shaded, which was nice. We were able to find a little pool of water in the creek where our kids could swim and cool off. We came with 12 people 4 adults and 8 kids (age is ranging from 3-15)
The wasps are NO joke though! As soon as you start cooking, they are nonstop and it gets pretty crazy. The bathrooms are okay, but there is absolutely no running water, not even to flush or wash your hands.
It’s about an hour drive from the freeway, and some parts of the drive don’t really feel like roads at all lol. There also weren’t a lot of people around. We were looking for a spot completely off the grid, and that’s exactly what we got! No cell service within about 30 minutes of the campsite. Overall, it was exactly the kind of camping experience we were looking for.

Campsite 8 was good. Vault toilet was much better than expected. Clean and no smell. Potable water from a faucet would have been nice. All of us are old enough to remember when Nira had a potable water faucet.

I have never seen Nira so beautiful. The water was high making it a little difficult to cross Manzana creek. Once on the trails it was very green in every direction. It is still early spring but the temperatures were comfortable. Cool at night. Since they started charging for campsights ($32) Nira is cleaner and better maintained.

Reserved site number 8, and I was extremely disappointed to find out that someone was already occupying my site. Apparently, people have been moving the tables around (which are numbered by site). If you go here just be aware that you may not get the site you originally reserved. There's no campground map either, camp host only visits twice a week

Awesome place !! The only reason I’m not rating a 5 it’s because of the bathrooms. Wish the bathrooms had water.
