RV Village Campground at Camp Richardson Resort
Overview
The RV Village provides a Lake Tahoe and Camp Richardson Resort experience unlike any other. Featuring beach access, and all the amenities you can think of within walking distance, guests get to bask in the remarkable beauty of Tahoe without sacrificing the resort experience. The campground has 20 Full Hookup RV sites and 78 Water/Electric RV sites. Each RV site has a picnic table, and fire pit with cooking grate. Some sites have a bear-proof food locker.
Recreation
Historic Camp Richardson Resort offers everything wonderful about outdoor recreation in Lake Tahoe. Recreational activities include biking, camping, fishing, hiking, sandy beach access, boating, paddling and more!
Facilities
The RV Village is nestled in the beautiful pines of the Sierra Nevadas. A short 10 minute walk to Lake Tahoe along a paved bike path. There is a Bar and Grill, General Store with Deli, Full Service Marina, and Ice Cream Parlor on site.
Each site is equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring with grate for cooking. Some sites have a bear-proof food storage locker. Flush toilets and showers are available in peak season, restroom facilities and dump station close during winter.
Fire wood and camping supplies are available for purchase at the General Store.
Check in is at the Eagles Nest Campground Kiosk located on HWY 89. On-site security, Property is staffed 24 hrs.
This is not a pet-friendly resort. Only service dogs accepted.

The resort’s unrivaled location on Lake Tahoe’s southern shore offers access to breathtaking natural wonders at an elevation of 6225 feet. Guests are surrounded by the crystal-clear waters of Lake Tahoe, the towering Sierra Nevada mountains, and the lush, fragrant forests of the surrounding area. The resort’s scenic beauty is a constant invitation for outdoor activities, from hiking and biking to water sports.

Directions
The RV Village is located 3 miles south of Tahoe City, on California Highway
89 (Emerald Bay Road).
From Sacramento, take U.S. Highway 50 to South Lake Tahoe and proceed north
past the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and Highway 89 (the "Y"). Look for
the Camp Richardson Resort sign on the right side of the Highway.
From North Shore (I-80, Reno, Truckee) take Highway 89 or U.S. Highway 50 to
South Shore.

Campsites are way too close together. To many campsites for the facilities to accommodate. Restrooms were in horrible condition. For the amount of people with a full campground they would need to have them cleaned four times a day. Possibly more.

Other than the electrical outlet being at the front of the lot requiring a pretty long extension cord, this park was great. Fabulous location within walking distance from the south Tahoe beach. Lots of amenities! An ice cream parlor and coffee shop on site with white chocolate raspberry lates that were amazing (we enjoyed them on ice)! Theres a gift shop and deli right across the street. We took advantage of the hour long horse back riding experience. There is a wonderful restaurant on the beach with live music every night during the summer. There is also a dock with beach rentals including paddle boats and paddle boards. There is also a paved bike trail for several miles. We rented e-bikes close by which were very easy to ride. The bears were very active when we stayed in mid to late June. Our spot had a lot of room behind our RV with a fire pit and picnic table. The wifi did not work at all where we were and our cellular reception was at best one bar (we have ATT). But that is to be expected at most camping grounds :-)

Campground is OK..sites way too unlevel bathrooms randown..but its close to lake..management and booking site are a disaster..they lied to me and canceled my site and gave it to someone they knew!!

We actually did not stay. We pulled up to the site and found that it was extremely small would barely fit our vehicle. And it was on a Incline where we would never be able to level our vehicle either. We are driving a 24 foot class B. the place looks extremely rundown. Not attractive at all.

The best week adopting the pace of nature. We had over a dozen bear encounters in the 7 days we stayed there. Amazing experience we’ve turned into an annual tradition the last 3 years (and plan to continue!).

Spots are too close to each other. Zero T-mobile coverage. No dogs allowed. Was there on the 4th of July weekend and it was a zoo. Have been to most of the campgrounds around Lake Tahoe and this is the only campground that I will never repeat. Paid three times the price of the regular campground fee because of the power which I didn't use, it was too far from the spot.

Our experience was great! The staff is wonderful and helpful. There are stores and rentals very close, and the beach is also close to the RV park. They have a fast check-in process.
The downside is that the plugs for water, electricity, and black/gray water are too far in the front of the lot. It is also hard to level the RV, because the lots are not leveled at all.

We left early as the entire park was so load and annoying. The camping side looked much better. The facilities were all great, everything worked, just a crowd of loud parties that created a terrible environment to relax in.

Multiple loud music with ZERO enforcement. Kids running crazy and screaming through everyone's campsite. Again, ZERO enforcement. Walk away.... no RUN far away from this campground.

Beautiful campground. Hook up are all backwards. Bring 75’ electrical cords and 75” hoses, some sites were flows uphill so makes it a challenge to dump. Otherwise an awesome campground!

Worst campground we stayed at on our two week road trip. Sites very unlevel. Amenities closed way to early. 6 pm for the camp store. Sites too close together. Was eating our supper inside our camper and the people beside us were emptying there waste into a portable container about 10 feet away.

We have been camping here for quite a while and always have a good time. We are disappointed that the restrooms still remain awful. The toilets aren't too bad but the shower facility is pathetic and has been for a long time. Other than that, it's always a fun time. The beach being close by is great. Kid like the ice cream shop down the road and gift/restaurant is close by and nice, too.

The site was large and mostly level. The location was great for accessing bike trails, beaches and the state park. check in was efficient and welcoming. The dump site was accessed easily and clean.
Be aware the hookups are at the front of the sites, so a long connection cord or hose may be needed if you want to hook up during your stay.

This campground is in a great location at South Lake. We live just down the hill and like to come visit here at least twice a year. You could literally never leave Camp Rich, and have a great vacation. RV sites are close together, but not as bad a most RV resorts. Some sites are pretty uneven, but I have seen way way worse.

Signs of where to pull our rig in to register were not visible and the only one we saw had a different name on the sandwich board. Went to the hotel, a man there said we needed to go back to that RV entrance with a different name. We did that, the same man handed us a card for our site and sent us on our way. Couldn't find our campsite, went back to the kiosk and asked for a map (same man) and he handed me one but couldn't find our site on it himself! Had to go back a 3rd time to get the tag for our windshield:-( I located it...drove there with some difficulty as the sites are not easily identified by the signage. Our site was horrible and the only level place was too far for 30 amp. Second night in another site...NO bear locker! We were told oh well, just keep the ice chest in our rig (a van with no real room). Found out the man who helped us the day before is the manager! Ugh. Bears boldly walking through the middle of the campground both mornings searching for food and us with no bear locker in our site:-( We worried about the bears around so many people - they are managed very differently here than they do in Alaska campgrounds.
Would I return...sadly no. We have camped for almost 50 years and this was the poorest for management we have encountered (other than the man who was driving around in his truck checking out each site...he was amazingly helpful and attentive).

Stay was great except all hookups (power, water, sewer) are in the front of the rv parking. Since my hookups are in the rear drivers side my power had to be connected with an extension cord and plugged into 110amp not allowing AC to run. Other issue is the septic hose was not long enough to reach the drain and had to use the dump station.
Since we had hookup issues I would not consider the sites full hookups. Ace hardware had a 25 foot 30amp extension for $109 which I was not willing to purchase since I have never seen any rv park ith hookup issues for full hookups.

I have stayed approximately 150 nights at Camp Richardson over the last 30 years. I have stayed in the Badger Den Campground with tents, and in the RV Park with a Fleetwood Bayside Tent Trailer for many years, and now in a 26-foot Forest River Salem. The Campground is family-friendly and the quiet hours are enforced. If there is any excessive noise, there are security patrols and El Dorado County Deputies on site regularly. Be aware the utility posts are between dual sites so have a long extension cord and water hose available if needed. You are in the forest and most sites have great shade during the day. A few are a challenge for leveling, so be prepared. There are scavenger bears so don't leave coolers, garbage and food outside. It is an easy walk to the beach and the Forest Bike Path. Get the ice cream. Have fun and enjoy!

Hook ups are on opposite side so your walking over your water and electric cord also not a full hook up so you need to go dump at dump station also if your not a good backup person this site is definitely not for you

It was a real good campground but the RV pull in was weird. Instead of backing your RV in, you have to go in forward in order to use the hookups. It made it very difficult to get our truck out, around our trailer.
The site had a few little pieces of trash around when we got to our site but mostly it was real nice.

It was a nice campsite and conveniently located near a lot of restaurants, stores and the lake. Our particular campsite was a little slanted and only way to get out was for our travel trailer steps to rub against pavement as there was a drop off. Slightly bent it, but not horrible.

Nice campground. The only thing we found odd was that the water and electric hookups were in the front of the site (site 5). Luckily our cord and hose was long enough to reach. The site was a little noisy from the road since it was a site close to the road. Next time I’ll call to ask if it’s close to the road. The check-in was easy and staff were friendly.

This is very nice campground close to the lake and near activities in the area. A couple of items to note. It seems like a number of the sites are not close to level and seem rutted. Some grading might help. Be prepared with blocks or auto levelers to get your rig level. Another is that both the water and electric hooks are far (excess of 25 feet) from where a rig might be parked. We were not able to use the hook ups either night as our cords and hoses were not long enough.
The restrooms an showers were very clean.

It is a beautiful campground. Sadly, most of the sites present a challenge when it comes to leveling your RV and half of the sites have the water and electricity hook-ups on the passenger side rather than the driver side. Fortunately, these issues are fairly easy to overcome.

The showers were old and disgusting. The bathrooms were old and never cleaned when we were there. The picnic tables were scattered all over the campground. You didn’t know which one was yours. Disappointing.

Beautiful location in middle of the trees. There was an occupancy of maybe 30% of the open area. Very silent. Did some nice bicycle tours from there. All in all a nice experience.

This is a great campground during the off-season. There are just a few campsites available, most of which have hookups. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, and you are just close enough to everything South Tahoe has to offer without having to deal with too much traffic or people.
