Nevada Beach Campground

Overview

Nevada Beach Campground sits in the Lake Tahoe Basin of Nevada. Minutes from the bright blue water of Tahoe's eastern shores, campsites are nestled in a sparse forest of pine trees and evergreen shrubs. The lake and its sandy beaches provides ample recreation opportunities and restaurants and casinos are just moments away.

Recreation

Just minutes away from the campground, 22-mile-long Lake Tahoe provides sunbathing, swimming, boating and water skiing. Anglers can look forward to healthy fish populations of kokanee salmon and mackinaw, rainbow and brown trout.

Nearby, the 2.6-mile Lam Wa Tah Trail traverses the perimeter of the lake, providing scenic views and opportunities for exploration.

Facilities

The campground offers dozens of campsites, available for tent and RV camping. Some sites are in wooded areas and others are not, many of the sites have a view of the lake.

Areas on the loop furthest from the lake provide the most privacy between campsites and all parking aprons are paved.

Each site is equipped with tables, campfire rings and grills. Accessible flush toilets and drinking water are provided.

The Nevada Beach Pavilion is a timber framed covered roof with open air sides. It is available for reservations for groups up to 150 people. It has 10 picnic tables and 3 large BBQ stations. It is located on the beach with beautiful views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountains. https://www.recreation.gov/venues/VR1400188/details/dqq5cdxw735s

Natural Features

The campground is located on the California-Nevada state line, adjacent to the popular and beautiful Lake Tahoe, at an elevation of 6,100 feet. Tall pines have left a bed of dry needles on the ground and the lake is visible from most sites within the campground.

The nearby Nevada Beach is less than a mile long and is wider than any other beach on the lake. Its subdued atmosphere is a welcomed characteristic, as visitors come to enjoy the peace and quite of the mountain landscape.

Contact Info

This location has limited staffing. Please call (530) 541-1537 for general information.

Do keep in mind, however, that there are many exceptions, so it is best to review reservation information listed on individual facility pages for those policies and procedures that pertain to your specific locations.

Any location or activity requiring a permit or lottery will have unique requirements and policies. Please check individual facility pages for pertinent information for those sites.

Booking Window

For most locations, you can reserve six months in advance of your stay for individual sites and 12 months in advance for group sites. There are some exceptions, so it is best to check with each facility.

Cancellations for a single night's reservation will forfeit the entire use fee but no cancellation fee will apply.

Cabins / Lookouts: Customers will be charged a $10.00 cancellation fee and forfeit the first night's use fee if a cabin or lookout reservation is cancelled within 14 days of the scheduled arrival date. Cancellations for a single night's use will not be assessed a service fee.

A refund will be processed within 30 days of receipt and approval. Please Note: Refund requests made during or after departure can only be processed when approved by the facility management staff based upon local policy.

Refunds for Emergency Closures: In the event of an emergency closure, the Recreation.gov team will attempt to notify users and offer alternate dates (as appropriate). The Fourth of July crowd is insane, but the campground feels safe and well managed. It’s nice to be able to walk and enjoy the fireworks and then come back to your camp and not fight traffic for 1 to 2 hours afterwards. The staff does an amazing job under trying circumstances.

We were lucky to find a last-minute campsite and had a wonderful two-night stay! This campground is absolutely beautiful—not only is it just a short walk from the beach, but it's also surrounded by towering pine trees that make it feel peaceful and scenic. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the entire campground was exceptionally clean and well maintained. We would definitely love (and work hard) to stay here again!

We love Nevada Beach and have camped here several times. This site was large and had plenty of room for our RV and several tents. There's a great direct view through the trees of the beach/lake, but there isn't a lot of privacy from the sites on either side. Close to the bathrooms and the path to the beach. The camp hosts are always great and this year was no exception. They alway keep everything very clean and they now have soap in the bathroom next to the parking lot!

This years crew is great, but the new rules requiring vehicles and trailers to park nose out for 'evacuation during emergencies' is overly restrictive. Please reconsider. Often the best views and best orientation are not 'nose out'. If I choose to leave a vehicle/trailer/whatever behind during a real time based emergency, it should be my choice. But more often than not, that's not the case. Getting out of the campground is not going to be the issue, it'll be getting out of the Tahoe basin. You're also putting the new staff in a tough spot having to deliver this message. Why wasn't it disclosed somewhere when we reserved the site? Thanks!

A unique combo of white sand beach and pine forest. Close to 24 hr. grocery store and gas station. Looking west in the evenings on a spring day are snow capped mountains, a setting sun and a beautiful lake. So having said that ...getting reservations for a particular day is almost impossible. The best (and most times only) way to camp there is to check for cancelations

Great place to camp in shoulder season. Summer is just too chaotic with easy-ups covering the entire beach. End of September was a totally different vibe. Camp hosts do a good job of maintaining the bathrooms but the bathrooms on the south end loop need some major work. Leaking water and very low seats this block needs a major reno.

We absolutely loved our 10-day stay at Nevada Beach Campground! Even though it’s just minutes from South Lake Tahoe, it still feels wonderfully peaceful and surrounded by nature. You get the best of both worlds — the stunning Lake Tahoe shoreline, the sandy stretch of Nevada Beach, and the forested beauty of the Lam Watah Nature Trail right nearby. The dog-friendly beach was a highlight for us — it was great to relax by the water and see so many happy four-legged friends enjoying the lake too. And the sunsets here? Simply unbeatable. A big shoutout to Manager Adam and his amazing crew — Janet, Mike, Chris, Tammy, and Randy. They clearly take pride in their work. Every campsite is freshly raked and spotless before guests arrive, and the bathrooms are always clean and well-maintained. It can be tough to get a reservation, so plan ahead and book six months in advance if you can. We stayed in Site 29, which offers a bit more privacy and shelter from the wind — highly recommend it if you prefer a quieter, more tucked-away spot. Can’t wait to come back to this beautiful campground!

Beautiful campground though each campsite is open to thy neighbors. No privacy but large campsite to set up van, RV or tents. The bathrooms are single, private accommodations kept clean. The beach is just a short walk from the campsite and you are looking at the most glorious Lake Tahoe. Anything you may need is on the main road, a 3 minute drive from the campground. The surrounding area is gorgeous with upper class homes. Absolutely make it a stop on your trip or make it the trip. If you are OK with an open-to-your-neighbor campsite and love the beach, this is a great campground.

Almost impossible to get opening day reservations so we search a week or so before our plan visit and book cancellations online. Great 2 night stay in our tents. Love the area of course. Clean camp and very friendly hosts. Convenient Safeway nearby for misc needed items. Surprising drawbacks were that there were no showers and the highway noise from cars and trucks were louder than I would expect at night. Those in mobile homes probably had no problem with this. Aside from that, it was a Great Stay!

Our family has been coming to Nevada Beach for 25+ years. The sunsets are spectacular and are usually followed by a twilight nature show of bats flying above hunting for food. The lake itself makes for a relaxing day at the beach. If you forget something, you can usually find it just up the street at the grocery store or at the variety of shops and restaurants.
