Overview

Eagles Nest Campground provides a Lake Tahoe and Camp Richardson Resort experience unlike any other. Featuring beach access, and all the amenities you can think of within walking distance, guests get to bask in the remarkable beauty of Tahoe without sacrificing the resort experience. The campground has 25 double standard tent sites and 6 standard triple tent sites. Each campsite has a bear-proof food locker, picnic table, and fire pit with cooking grate. Tent camping only in this campground. No RVs allowed.

Historic Camp Richardson Resort offers everything wonderful about outdoor recreation in Lake Tahoe. Recreational activities include biking, camping, fishing, hiking, sandy beach access, boating, paddling and more!

Facilities

Eagles Nest Campground is nestled in the beautiful pines of the Sierra Nevadas. A short 10 minute walk to Lake Tahoe along a paved bike path. There is a Bar and Grill, General Store with Deli, Full Service Marina, and Ice Cream Parlor on site.

Each site is equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring with grate for cooking, and a bear-proof food storage locker. Tent sites have paved parking pads. Accessible flush toilets and coin operated showers are available.

Tent camping only in this campground. No RVs allowed.

Fire wood and camping supplies are available for purchase at the General Store.

Check in is at the Eagles Nest Campground Kiosk located on HWY 89. On-site security, Property is staffed 24 hrs.

This is not a pet-friendly resort. Only service dogs accepted.

Directions

Badger's Den Campground is located 3 miles south of Tahoe City, on California Highway 89 (Emerald Bay Road). From Sacramento, take U.S. Highway 50 to South Lake Tahoe and proceed north past the intersection of U.S. Highway 50 and Highway 89 (the "Y"). Look for the Camp Richardson Resort sign on the right side of the Highway. From North Shore (I-80, Reno, Truckee) take Highway 89 or U.S. Highway 50 to South Shore.

Nice campground and close to beach and some amenities, but it needs a second bathroom/shower facility to service the campground.

The campsite and bathrooms were very well maintained. There was a problem when we tried to move our campsite because we were experiencing very rowdy people in the campsite next to us. I called Recreation.gov to move the campsite to a vacant campsite on the other side of the property. They were of no help told me that I couldn’t move the campsite and when I went to Camp Richardson to ask them if they could move us. They referred me back to Recreation.gov. So the situation went nowhere and we were unable to move to a vacant site that was vacant for our entire state that we were there. We were forced to be around a rowdy crowd. Very unfortunate that the two sides couldn’t come together to assist a customer.

We found the campsite and surrounding area to be a great place to camp. The bike paths, coffee shop, and ice cream parlor were fantastic. The Grove restaurant was also great and the walk to the lake was very convenient. That said there was a good deal of noise from other campers after quiet hours. There was also a lot of airhorn and car alarm use to scare away bears. I have camped in bear country before and didn't have a similar level of noise. For example Mt Whitney base camp had more bears and much less noise!

Beautiful spot, great location, clean bathrooms, and proper bear bins. Wishing they had an indoor dish washing station, as the bears were very active.

Didn't even have picnic table and you pay over 100$ per night. For what? It was the worse camp site I have ever been and I camp atleas 4 times a year

Gorgeous setting! Bring ear plugs at night for the car alarms (people set off to scare away the bears), and coyotes howling. Nice that they have bathrooms and showers but they are heavily used.

Beware of hidden charges. Since your in the surrounding is in the busy street, better lodge in cheap hotel

It was a lot less crowded than the other campgrounds, our kids loved the trees for their hammocks, and it was just across the street and down the road from the beach. The bike trails were great!
