Trumbull Lake
Overview
Trumbull Lake Campground is located next to its scenic namesake at an elevation of 9,980 feet. The lake is one of ten alpine lakes in the area. Visitors enjoy fishing, canoeing and exploring local trails.Recreation

This campground contains several single-family sites, a few double sites and one triple site, all with picnic tables, food storage lockers and campfire rings with grills. Vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are provided. Firewood is available for purchase from the host. Roads and parking spurs are dirt. Check in for campsites is 2pm, check out is noon.
Natural Features
The campground is situated on the shores of quiet Trumbull Lake, a 100-acre lake surrounded by towering peaks and glacier-carved cirques. A dense forest of lodgepole pine covers the campground, providing ample shade in most campsites. Aspens and summer wildflowers dot the landscape.Nearby Attractions
The Virginia Lakes area is very close, offering additional canoeing and fishing. The Virginia Lake Trail, for hiking and horseback riding, provides access into the adjacent Hoover Wilderness Area and Yosemite National Park. Bodie State Park.

Directions
Travel 13.5 miles south of Bridgeport on Highway 395. Turn right at Conway
Summit. Travel 5.9 miles on Forest Road 21 to where the asphalt turns to
gravel. Turn right at campground entrance.
Stay Limit
Check in from 2 PM, check out by 12 PM.

The campsite had a view of the lake. It was near water and rest rooms. Remaining forest helped to separate one campsite from the next.
We have stayed in this campground before. It is an ideal basecamp for hikes to the lakes above Virginia Lake.

The camp host was great. The only problem was leveling the trailer. The site had a lot of cross slope. By the time I leveled the trailer the bottom 3rd step of the trailer was about 2 1/2 feet off the ground.

This is a really nice campground in a beautiful spot, all the sites are very spacious and the whole campground was very quiet for our stay.

Site 32 had enough space for two vehicles, maybe 3 if we really squeezed in. Site was in the forest, but we had peeks of the mountains nearby, cozy and woodsy vibes. No close neighbors to the left or right of the site, so we had plenty of space and quiet, & overall the campsite was peaceful even on a friday-sunday trip.
Trumbull lake was a short walk from the site, good fishing, but muddy bottom so not so as good for swimming, Big Virginia lake nearby had a rocky bottom which was more fun for us swimming/wading. Recommend hiking up through the virginia lakes trail to upper frog lake! Scenic! Trip was July 10 and the trail was full of flowers

The site itself was nice. Many are very cramped. Location is, of course, awesome. The camp host, Travis, could have been more attentive to the restrooms ( toilet paper, spider webs, etc) Overall a good, but not very good experience.

Setting was spectacular. Campground was nice, toilets and water faucet near campsite. Big bear lockers and plenty of TP.
This would be a 10 star experience except the weather was terrible - not at all the fault of the campground or lake. We ended up having to leave. But I absolutely would go back to stay there again.

This is such a great campground! You can start your hike of the gorgeous Virginia Lakes right from the campground. The camp host is very friendly and helpful. I love the tranquility and beauty of Trumbull lake.

Fantastic visit. Fishing was the best ever. The camp host (Kemo) was great. Good camp site. Water, trash, outhouse close. Will be back next summer.

As always, love camping at Trumbull Lake. Even though it rained every day, we were still able to get out and hike and enjoy the beauty of the area. Kimo, the camp host, was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful and keeps the campground in perfect condition!

The camp host was SO helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The campground is beautiful and very well maintained. We only stayed 2 nights but would have happily stayed longer.

Trumbull Lake is fantastic. Beautiful setting and well maintained. Host Kimo couldn't have been friendlier! I hesitate to write more because I don't want the place to become too popular!

I try to make it to the eastern side of the Sierras every summer, camping at 3 different spots each time I'm there, and over the years, I've found Kimo to be one of the best campground hosts.

I went with a fly fishing club and it was excellent. Kemo the host greeted everyone and made us all feel welcome. One member had campsite #42 with a trailer and it was very difficult to get level. They got there a little after 5 and Kemo worked with them until almost 9 trying to get them level. They got it pretty good then the next day several of us went over and finally had to get the jack out of the car to jack up the axel and we finally got it level. This site needs to have some leveling work done or be designated a tent site.”

We would give this campground 5 stars but we really didn’t like all the flys. Way to many flys…
The camp host was absolutely amazing. Great guy, super clean bathroom’s, made his rounds and showed he really cared for the campground. Fishing was good at Trumbel lake never went down to Virginia lakes they were to busy .
Please keep this camp host he’s awesome 👏

We were supposed to be in 027 but wound up in 002 due to a small mix up. It was fine - I don’t think there’s a bad spot in the campground. The space was beautiful and the bathrooms were incredibly clean. My biggest regret is only being there for one day. I can’t wait to go back.
Also - the camp host was a true gem. Thank you so much Kimo - and thank you - we had enough gas to make it to Lee Vining.

Campground and campsites were very clean. Bathrooms were always kept up and clean. Kimo is a great camp host. This place is our go-to when we camp in the Eastern Sierras!!

We totally enjoyed our stay at Trumbull Lake. We've been coming here for 15 plus years now and couldn't be happier.
One thing needs to be addressed though. The water system needs to be overhauled as the color of the water is rusty red and we were told to let it run until it looked clear. Well, not sure it was ever clear. Be sure to bring a water filter for your RV or something for drinking water if you're tent camping.
Campground host Kimo is awesome. Very likeable and very helpful. He cleans the restrooms on a regular basis and there's always enough toilet paper.

Kemo the camp host was the best! He made sure we had everything we need! Definitely recommend fishing at all the surrounding lakes. We caught a lot of trout!

I been coming here for years, never been disappointed. Kimo, the Host, is super friendly and ALWAYS has touched base with me every year when I arrived. The fishing has always been good. Plenty of hiking trails, the hike to Blue Lake is spectacular!

This is a beautifully quiet campground! Big shout out to the camp host Kemo for maintaining clean well stocked restrooms and overall good vibe in the campground.
You can do nothing and simply enjoy the beauty, or fish or hike! Or all three which is what we did.
Only negative was the biting flies. My fault though for not keeping feet covered. I think these little pests are probably only an issue in the Spring/early Summer.

This refers to Site 14 only.
This campsite is restricted access due to trees - and is narrow. While my 25' RV would have fit the length, the site was too narrow to safely reverse into. If you're in a tent, or a van style RV, you should be fine, but not reccomended for a wider class C or similar.

We had the best time camping at camp site #10. Although there was a lot more vegetation then any of our other visits (which meant more bugs/mosquitos), we still had a really great time! Took the hike to Frog Lakes, caught fish, and had some quality family time!
Kimo was great as well as so helpful! Bathrooms were kept very clean!

Kimo who was the camp host is absolutely awesome! Gave super great recommendations for the area and was extremely friendly and approachable.
The bathrooms were so clean and surprisingly did not smell. You could tell campers were extremely respectful in this area and that Kimo maintained the area so well.
The camp ground was quiet and very peaceful. highly recommend if you're truly looking to disconnect.
